I am pleased to announce that Mr. John<br />
Hickey will be joining us as our new<br />
Middle/High School Principal commencing<br />
July 23rd. John will be accompanied by<br />
his son and wife Maria. John is currently<br />
working as an Associate Middle School<br />
Principal at <strong>Colegio</strong> Nueva Granada in<br />
Bogota. He has lived for over 9 years in<br />
Colombia and has worked internationally<br />
in Venezuela, Mexico, and Israel. John has<br />
extensive experience in both Middle and<br />
High school and was a former History, Social Studies, AP, and English teacher. John<br />
has a B.A. in Political Science and English Literature from the University of<br />
Scranton, a M.A in Secondary Education from the University of Alabama, a<br />
Certificate of International School Leadership from the Principals’ Training Center<br />
for International School Leadership, and is currently working towards a Doctorate<br />
Degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University. John is an active<br />
marathon runner and enjoys chess, literature, and mountain trekking.. Both will be<br />
greatly missed.<br />
I would also like to welcome Mr. Barry Gilman who<br />
will be our new Kindergarten Principal. Barry will<br />
be transitioning with Angela during the month of<br />
June and will be officially starting on July 23rd.<br />
Barry is currently an Educational Consultant<br />
serving schools in Colombia, Ecuador, Panama,<br />
and Turkey. Barry is originally from Chicago but<br />
has spent the last 15 years in Colombia and was<br />
given Colombian citizenship personally by<br />
President Uribe. He has a strong background in<br />
literacy and early childhood education after working 14 years as a Primary School<br />
Principal at <strong>Colegio</strong> Nueva Granada in Bogota. Barry is also the President of<br />
Destination Imagination Colombia Foundation. He earned a B.A in Elementary<br />
Education from Aurora University and a Masters in Educational Leadership from<br />
Lehigh University. Barry enjoys golf, good cuisine, and working with children.<br />
Please help me in welcoming both Barry and John to Bucaramanga and into our<br />
community, and in wishing much success to both Angela and Brian in their future<br />
endeavors.<br />
