“The New 2014 National Curriculum”<br />

Key Focus This year’s <strong>Secondary</strong> <strong>Science</strong> <strong>Conference</strong> will focus on the New 2014<br />

<strong>Science</strong> National Curriculum and consider how schools can best prepare<br />

and implement the significant changes to the scientific knowledge and<br />

conceptual understanding as well as the new approaches to working<br />

scientifically.<br />

About Alan Denton Alan Denton is a former Head of <strong>Science</strong> and Physics with huge experience, who<br />

now wears several hats developing and delivering <strong>Science</strong> training for schools, for<br />

the <strong>Science</strong> Learning Centre and other organisations. Alan has also been<br />

involved in international teacher training, and will be spending a month out in<br />

Kazakhstan this year running <strong>Science</strong> training for the University of Cambridge.<br />

Course Description<br />

This <strong>Conference</strong> will allow delegates to review and reflect on the changes brought about by the New <strong>Science</strong><br />

Curriculum, consider how these changes will be implemented and consider a range of pedagogical<br />

approaches to enhance the delivery of it.<br />

Course Outcomes<br />

As a result of attending this course delegates will:<br />

• Gain an overview and understanding of the changes to the 2014 <strong>Science</strong> National Curriculum;<br />

• Consider the implications of the 2014 Primary <strong>Science</strong> Curriculum on KS3 and KS4;<br />

• Develop and effective implementation plan for the Curriculum;<br />

• Develop literacy and numeracy approaches in <strong>Science</strong> to enhance pupil progress within the Curriculum.<br />

Course Cost<br />

£50 per delegate<br />

This will include all input, handouts and lunch.<br />

This event is heavily subsidised by Buckinghamshire Learning Trust Triple<br />

<strong>Science</strong> funding in order to ensure high levels of attendance<br />
