“The New 2014 National Curriculum”
Key Focus This year’s Secondary Science Conference will focus on the New 2014
Science National Curriculum and consider how schools can best prepare
and implement the significant changes to the scientific knowledge and
conceptual understanding as well as the new approaches to working
scientifically.

About Alan Denton Alan Denton is a former Head of Science and Physics with huge experience, who
now wears several hats developing and delivering Science training for schools, for
the Science Learning Centre and other organisations. Alan has also been
involved in international teacher training, and will be spending a month out in
Kazakhstan this year running Science training for the University of Cambridge.
Course Description
This Conference will allow delegates to review and reflect on the changes brought about by the New Science
Curriculum, consider how these changes will be implemented and consider a range of pedagogical
approaches to enhance the delivery of it.
Course Outcomes
As a result of attending this course delegates will:
• Gain an overview and understanding of the changes to the 2014 Science National Curriculum;
• Consider the implications of the 2014 Primary Science Curriculum on KS3 and KS4;
• Develop and effective implementation plan for the Curriculum;
• Develop literacy and numeracy approaches in Science to enhance pupil progress within the Curriculum.
Course Cost
£50 per delegate
This will include all input, handouts and lunch.
This event is heavily subsidised by Buckinghamshire Learning Trust Triple
Science funding in order to ensure high levels of attendance
