of self-study exercises on a CD and through an online

TEORÍA DE LA EDUCACIÓN BILINGÜE
This course is an introduction and general review of the
most widely used theories and factors involved in the
learning of a second language: principles and priorities
in methodology; the role of context in comprehension
and learning; the approach to listening and reading;
development of oral and written proficiency; teaching
for a cultural understanding, and classroom testing.

INGLÉS IV
This course has been designed for students who are
independent users of the English language. The course
aims to develop students’ knowledge and skills at the
low-advanced level (C1), according to the Common
European Framework of Reference (CEF). It focuses
on developing students ability to write in academic
English, through themes relating to global issues. After
the course, students will understand a wide range
of demanding, longer texts, and recognize implicit
meaning. They should be able to express themselves
fluently and spontaneously without much obvious
searching for expressions. They should be able to use
language flexibly and effectively for social, academic,
and professional purposes. Students should also
be able to produce clear, well-structured, detailed
text on complex subjects, showing controlled use of
organizational patterns, connectors, and cohesive
devices. In sum, students will acquire the competencies
they require to continue with their formal education
in this foreign language, as part of their respective
programs at ULACIT.

APRECIACIÓN MUSICAL
Este curso se encuentra destinado al estudio y audición
participativa e intuitiva de obras musicales de los
periodos barroco, clásico, romántico, contemporáneo,
nacionalista e impresionista. Los estudiantes tienen la
oportunidad de aprender a reconocer los principales
ritmos populares, folclóricos y clásicos de la música
de Costa Rica. Además de identificar los estilos y
clasificaciones musicales, los estudiantes pueden
desarrollar competencias críticas y ampliar su bagaje
cultural.

CÁLCULO DIFERENCIAL E INTEGRAL
Estudia las técnicas fundamentales de cálculo
diferencial e integral: funciones, límites, derivadas,
integrales, sus aplicaciones y los principios matemáticos
en que se basan. El cálculo brindará al estudiante las
herramientas matemáticas empleadas en la resolución
de problemas en todos los ámbitos de las ciencias y las
ingenierías.
