En 2005, Bolivia importó US$27,789,014 <strong>de</strong> todo tipo <strong>de</strong> hardware<br />
<strong>de</strong> computadoras, un crecimiento <strong>de</strong> 22.5% sobre el año 2004.<br />
Toda Latinoamérica tenía un crecimiento aparecido:<br />

Si estas importaciones son sólo para nuevas instalaciones <strong>de</strong><br />
computadoras, este crecimiento va a acabar eventualmente; pero si<br />
sigue creciendo <strong>de</strong>bido a la obsolescencia planificada, Bolivia<br />
per<strong>de</strong>rá más y más al extranjero en un <strong>de</strong>sequilibrio creciente <strong>de</strong><br />
comercio.<br />
Dado que el PBI per cápita <strong>de</strong> Bolivia es US$1137, comprando una<br />
computadora nueva cada 3-5 años es una carga económica que<br />
vaya a excluir la mayoría <strong>de</strong> Bolivianos.
