ACTIVITIES - Marymount

OLIMPIADA NACIONAL
DE QUÍMICA
Este año 184 estudiantes de diferentes estados de la
República participaron en la Olimpiada Nacional de Química.
La delegación de Morelos entrenada por el Profesor Eduardo
García estuvo formada por 6 alumnos: 1 del Colegio Morelos,
2 del Colegio Marymount, 2 del Colegio de Bachilleres y 1 de
Técnicos Laboratoristas.
Los alumnos de Marymount que participaron son Anil Verma
de onceavo y Roberto Arellano de doceavo. Los resultados
obtenidos fueron los siguientes:
• Del nivel A (avanzados) obtuvo el 1er lugar a Nivel Nacional
el alumno de Marymount Anil Verma.
Anil por formar parte de la preselección seguirá entrenando,
ya que de un grupo de 15 alumnos seleccionarán a 4 quienes
representarán a México en la Olimpiada Internacional de
Química, que se llevará a cabo del 12 al 21 de julio del 2008
en Budapest Hungría y en el certamen Iberoamericano que
tendrá como sede la ciudad de San José de Costa Rica en el
mes de septiembre.

ARUSI SANTESTEBAN IN
SHAKESPEARE COMPETITION
The excitement of the spectators and the nerves hanging on
the sleeves of the twelve competitors was the backdrop of the
VI Anglo Mexican Foundation’s Shakespeare Competition held
last Saturday the 8th of March, 2008 in Mexico City.
This is the fourth year that students from Marymount have
participated in this event. The first place is a trip for two people
to London, visiting the Globe Theatre. The second prize is an
invitation to the final National Shakespeare Competition in
New York. The third prize is a weekend for two to the Festival
Internacional Cervantino. Last year, we were proud to win
second place. This year, two students represented Marymount
Daniela Romero performing the role of Desdemona from
Othelo and Arusi Santesteban performing Shylock from The
Merchant of Venice. Both representations were excellent.
The audience was swept away by Arusi’s performance which
paved the way to a secure first place. Congratulations Arusi!
The English Department of Marymount hopes that this will
encourage students to participate in future performances.
