<strong>ACERA</strong>’S PRESS COURSE ARRIVES FOR THE FIRST TIME TO LA ARAUCANÍA<br />
<strong>ACERA</strong> travelled as far as La Araucanía region to continue developing the <strong>2018</strong> version of its<br />
energy training for journalists. The activity was carried out at the Universidad de La Frontera<br />
(UFRO) and was attended by around 25 communicators of the zone.<br />
The initiative called “Energy and NCRE training program for the Press”, is sponsored by the<br />
Ministry of Energy and the Solar Energy ¡ÉSTA Program ES of LA Corfo PRIMERA and could PLANTA be carried out thanks to<br />
the funding of <strong>ACERA</strong>’s member company GEOTÉRMICA Wpd Chile. DE SUDAMÉRICA!<br />
Darío Morales, <strong>ACERA</strong>’s Studies Director, who represented the Association as a speaker at the<br />
course, stated after the activity that “we are very pleased with the attendance the course had in<br />
Temuco, bringing renewable energies closer to a completely polluted region. It is extremely<br />
relevant for <strong>ACERA</strong> to be able to contribute to the journalists’ knowledge, since they are<br />
responsible for communicating, so that they can transmit in a simple way the messages of a<br />
highly complex sector”.<br />
For his part, José Quidel, professional of the Participation and Social Dialogue Division of<br />
the Ministry of Energy, who lectured the module on participation and indigenous chapter,<br />
expressed that “the importance of this event is also related to the region’s economic orientation.<br />
The Impulsa Araucanía plan defined renewable energies as the third element of development,<br />
after tourism and agriculture, and this implies making efforts and generating this kind of initiatives<br />
to raise awareness on the scope of energy policies and the development of renewable energies”.<br />
The activity, that has been attended by over 350 journalists, was carried out for the first time in La<br />
Araucanía region, and adds to those carried out in the regions of Arica y Parinacota, Tarapacá,<br />
Antofagasta, Atacama, Coquimbo, Valparaíso, Biobío, Los Ríos, Los Lagos, and Metropolitana.<br />
COMISIÓN NACIONAL DE ENERGÍA TURNS 40 YEARS OLD,<br />
AND CELEBRATES IN GREAT STYLE<br />
The Comisión Nacional de Energía, CNE (National Energy Commission), was officially launched<br />
40 years ago with the publication of Decree-Law Nº2,224 in the Official Journal. Last June 21,<br />
its fortieth anniversary was celebrated in great style.<br />
The activity was headed by the Minister of Energy, Susana Jiménez, who emphasized the<br />
contribution of the regulatory agency to the national energy industry. She also pointed out that<br />
“the CNE is in charge of the tariff processes that have a great impact on the household,<br />
commercial and industrial sectors. Searching the operational excellence for these processes is<br />
an element that must be more present than ever”.<br />
CNE’s Executive Secretary (S), Carolina Zelaya, stated at the occasion that “CNE’s history<br />
involves the creation of markets, regulations, adaptation, and improvement. All the functions<br />
required from us by the law and the sector could not be possibly fulfilled without the<br />
professional and technical team working in the CNE”.<br />
The ceremony comprised two discussion rounds, where seven former CNE’s Executive<br />
Secretaries addressed the key milestones of these years, and the challenges that the CNE faces<br />
for the next decade, called “Milestones of the CNE’s operation between 1978 and <strong>2018</strong>” and<br />
“CNE’s Challenges for the next decade”.<br />
