BIOBÍO: NEGRETE CELEBRATED THE “WORLD WIND DAY”
The first version of the “Negrete Wind Fest”, convened by the commune’s Municipality within the
celebration of the World Wind Day, was a great success.
The goal of the event was that the children of Negrete, together with their families, would celebrate
living in a privileged geographical zone which, thanks to its strategic location and its atmospheric
and climate conditions, owns an intangible resource so valuable as the wind. And the Municipal
Gymnasium of Negrete, decorated with kites, paper ¡ÉSTA swirls, ES windsocks LA PRIMERA and wind PLANTA vanes became the
most adequate scenario to receive the more than GEOTÉRMICA two thousand DE people SUDAMÉRICA!
who gathered for the
celebration.
At the occasion, the Energy Seremi of the Biobío Region, Rodrigo Torres, posed the need to
increase the renewable energies’ development. “We are fortunate in this region to have communes
with privileged wind where many wind projects are materializing, which are certainly very important
for the country since they are clean energy”, the authority pointed out.
The wind day celebration, which is expected to be repeated every year, was carried out thanks to
the funding of wpd Chile and Mainstream Renewable Power (MRP) and was sponsored by the
Ministry of Energy through the Energy Seremía of the Biobío Region, and ACERA. The event was
also supported by the Interactive Center of Science, Arts, and Technology (CICAT, abbreviation in
Spanish) of the Universidad de Concepción.
