<strong>Santa</strong> Bárbara cuenta con tres colegios, dos públicos y uno privado. El que atien<strong>de</strong> la mayor cantidad <strong>de</strong> población es el<br />
Liceo <strong>de</strong> <strong>Santa</strong> Bárbara, ubicado en la cabecera <strong>de</strong> cantón, con 1212 estudiantes; el otro se ubica en el distrito <strong>de</strong> Santo<br />
Domingo, en la comunidad <strong>de</strong> El Roble, con una población <strong>de</strong> 950 estudiantes.<br />
Este último, por encontrarse ubicado en la parte norte <strong>de</strong>l territorio <strong>de</strong>l cantón (zona, rural), tiene la particularidad <strong>de</strong><br />
constituirse en el único recurso <strong>de</strong> educación secundaria, tanto para la comunidad estudiantil <strong>de</strong>l Roble como para otros<br />
poblados como: Los Cartagos, Betania, San Bosco y otros poblados <strong>de</strong>l cantón <strong>de</strong> <strong>Santa</strong> Bárbara. A<strong>de</strong>más, por su posición<br />
estratégica pue<strong>de</strong> brindar el servicio a otras comunida<strong>de</strong>s fuera <strong>de</strong>l cantón, como por ejemplo: Vara Blanca <strong>de</strong> Heredia y <strong>de</strong>l<br />
<strong>Cantón</strong> <strong>de</strong> Barva Puente Salas y Birrí<br />
2.6.6. Recursos <strong>de</strong> formación técnica.<br />
Aunque en <strong>Santa</strong> Bárbara no se cuenta con colegios técnicos, la población con problemas para <strong>de</strong>splazarse hasta la<br />
cabecera <strong>de</strong> provincia, tiene la opción <strong>de</strong> capacitarse en el Instituto Profesional <strong>de</strong> Educación Comunitaria (IPEC) sin costo<br />
alguno. Este es un recurso formativo <strong>de</strong> carácter técnico que está al alcance <strong>de</strong> la población <strong>de</strong> <strong>Santa</strong> Bárbara en las<br />
diferentes se<strong>de</strong>s registradas a continuación.<br />
