RENEWABLE ENERGY COURSE FOR COMMUNICATORS
TRAVELED TO CALAMA
Calama is one of the Chilean territories with highest potential for the development of
renewable energies, and thus ACERA, in collaboration with the Universidad Tecnológica de
Chile, INACAP, traveled to this city with its energy training for communicators.
The activity started with the presentation, by the Association’s Studies Director, of the state of
the energy sector in Chile, including the kinds ¡ÉSTA of ES technologies, LA PRIMERA current PLANTA regulation, the
importance of community management and the GEOTÉRMICA relation with the DE climate SUDAMÉRICA!
change, among other
issues.
The Antofagasta Region’s Energy Seremi, Aldo Erazo, also participated as sponsor of the
program, and in addition to giving the initial greeting to the attendants and taking part in the
prize-giving ceremony, he highlighted the relevance of this kind of initiatives in the region. “As
Energy Seremi we deeply appreciate this initiative since it provides a dialogue and meeting
space with those who help us day to day to broadcast, inform and educate the community on
technical themes such as energy.”
This initiative called “Energy and NCRE’s Training Program for journalists” was funded by
ACERA’s member company Mainstream Renewable Power and sponsored by the Ministry of
Energy and the Solar Energy Program of CORFO.
CHILE AS A SUCCESS CASE IN THE IMPLEMENTATION OF
RENEWABLE ENERGIES
The rapid incorporation of renewable technologies in the Chilean industry has been subject
to the study and interest of different countries of the region, and many of them have invited
ACERA AG to participate as an exhibitor in different events concerning the matter, as a
result of the Association’s active role in promoting a 100% renewable matrix for Chile.
That is why ACERA’s Executive Director, Carlos Finat, was recently invited to the
Dominican Republic, to make a presentation about the chilean case in renewable energy at
the seminar called “Exchange of experiences in the field of integration of renewable
energies between Chile and the Dominican Republic”, occasion in which he also met with
the National Electricity Commission of that country, in order to present the state of clean
energies in Chile.
In the same way, the Association’s Studies Director, Darío Morales, was invited to the
“VII Renewable Energies’ Conference Peru 2018”, to expose on the implementation
process of these technologies in the Chilean matrix and the following steps to reach 100%
of renewable generation. After the activity, Morales pointed out that “Peru is making a
great effort to incorporate renewable energies to its matrix by modernizing its regulatory
framework. On the other hand, the interconnection between both countries could offer an
opportunity to boost energy interaction, open new businesses and further enhance the
development of renewable energies”.
It is clear that renewable energies are here to stay, and their incorporation in more countries
is great news, most of all for the planet.
