Welcome to RUNWAY DUBAI 2021
Welcome to the Annual Runway Dubai Fashion Show 2021. From a simple idea of
promoting designers in the region and internationally, we have come a long way
growing from strength to strength with over 210 Fashion designers from more
than 35 countries around the globe.
Following our break in 2020 due to the global COVID 19 pandemic, we will first
like to say that we are grateful to be here, and trust that we are all keeping safe and
doing our part in reducing the negative effect of the COVID 19 in our Society.
This year we expanded our platform by creating an opportunity for fashion institutions
locally. The pandemic was hard on many of us hence the reason for creating
an awareness about togetherness regardless of your race, gender, culture, or
beliefs; humanity is the most important thing. The fashion competition criteria this
year was to create one garment drawing inspiration from two different cultures.
The response was nothing short of spectacularly exhilarating for us, and we are
excited and encouraged to keep creating inspiring initiatives of this nature.
MODUPE OMONZE
Founder, Runway Dubai
The established designers have also taken the color splash theme into
consideration and have exhibited a vibrant side of their pieces in order to draw
more attention to the fashion enthusiasts, and people looking out for unique inspiration.
For the first time on our truly international platform we have the majority
of our designers locally based. The top designers chosen this year are Asma Sultana
from Bangladesh, Imane Harti from Morocco, Margarida Goncalves from
Portugal, Nidhi kumar from India, Reena Khurram from Pakistan, Sania Daniel
from United Kingdom, Zineb Maazouz from Morocco.
We also focused on creating social awareness through this platform that we dearly
love – fashion. This year, our focus was bringing awareness of the issues of Child
slavery and the stigma of Albinism in parts of Africa, featuring Mila
Anufrieva, a fashion icon and a champion for the cause through her platform
“Mila 4 Africa”.
We would like to thank our generous sponsors, our dedicated supporters, our
creative designers, and our distinguished guests for making this journey all worth
it. We appreciate you all.
Last year September: I went to Guinea Conakry on behalf of the children's foundation. At that time, our organization was
already gaining momentum, and we’ve been helping more and more people. About a hundred albinos were meeting me at
the airport departures – all impeccably dressed with wide smiles on their faces. “Everyone looked so smart, and content –
I suddenly had a flash through my head. I had already been aware of discrimination against albinos in Africa, but haven't
really seen the whole picture. At that moment the truth about being an albino was revealed. I'd like to tell you about our
boy Karim, one of the seven slave children who we saved and brought to our centre in Conakry. But the moment I found
him, we weren't able to pick him up from the street quickly. Karim is an albino. A soulless tool for someone's wealth, that
has no rights and is not considered a person in his family. He is considered a slave.
He used to basically work on the streets collecting money for other people. Karim gets good alms as he is sick, and fragile.
He has been hit by a car twice. He needs treatment urgently, otherwise, he’ll lose all the chances to live! This is the sad
reality: the more pity a child causes, the more money they make from him on the streets. Now we are doing everything we
can to take Karim and more kids like this to our shelter, we built for this purpose. But it's not that simple. It’s impossible to
just pick up someone else's child from the street even though he’s clearly being humiliated. Here in Africa savagery
coexists with civilized laws. To anyone reading this, just saving Karim and others like him from the streets is not enough.
We need to keep a permanent centre where slaves saved from the streets could live safely and have a good life.
Something and much as 5 dollars will go a long way. you will never realize how much it means to us all.

ONNA NOIR is for both genders, for enthusiastic
people that want to show up with impressive
looks that match their ideal of self confidence and
unbroken personality. Saying “genderless” has the
reason of believing that man or woman should be free to
wear either pants or heels, normalizing the individual
sense of aesthetic and at least giving a freedom of
choice. For me it will be a pleasure being recognized as
part of it together with so many others across the world.
