Kids Craft for Everyday Use
1. Ribbon and Button Daisies;
To make: For each napkin ring, cut 3/8-inch-wide white grosgrain ribbon into
five 3-inch-long pieces; round ends. Glue one piece on top of the next,
offsetting as you go to create a flower shape. Glue a yellow button in center
and a length of green twine to back for tying.
2. Pinch Bowl;
To make: Pinch and shape oven-bake clay into a small, shallow dish. Bake
according to manufacturer's directions. Once cool, paint as desired with acrylic
paint. Once dry, seal with satin-finish Mod Podge.
3. DIY Flower Crown;
To make: Start by measuring the circumference of head of the person who will
wear the crown. Next cut a piece of wire that is about 2 inches longer than the
measurement, twist ends together to form a circle. Next gather a few blooms
(trimming ends to about 2-inches) and wrap together with floral twine. Repeat
until you have enough flower bundles to cover the entire wire circle. Use floral
tape to attach the bundles to the wire round, overlapping slightly to cover up
stems.
4. DIY Air Freshner;
To make: Trace the shape of a wooden Christmas tree ornament on a scrap of
fabric twice. Cut out and glue to the front and back of the ornament. Once dry,
soak the fabric with Dad's favorite essential oil (we used cedar). Thread twine
through the ornament loop for hanging.
5. DIY Grilling Apron;
To make: Use fabric markers or fabric paint and a small paint brush to paint
"grill master" and a grill on a plain canvas apron. Once dry, have kids dip their
pinky fingers in orange, red, and yellow paint and press onto apron, just above
grill grates, to create flames.

POSING TECHNIQUE FOR KIDS
Have them sit down! It doesn’t have to be
anything fancy. Set up chairs, or crates, but
using the natural environment works just as
well.
2. Take time with them and get to know them.
Be genuine and work to make the children
you photograph your friends.
3. Whoever your subject is, they will look best if
they are comfortable. This is definitely true
with kids. Avoid poses that are awkward or
difficult to do.
4. Simple poses that they already do on a
regular basis are best (cross-legged, hands in
their pockets, holding hands, etc). And don't be
afraid to show them some of their photos.
Children love checking out the back of a
camera and to see what they look like in their
photos.

ZAINAB AHLI

Fashion Shift: The Possible Future Of The Fashion Industry
By Elijah Christopher
Creative Director, ANTOA
The sun may rise and set and then every day may just look like every other day. But we all naturally know that in between, something is constant: change.
Things shift. Fashion is one of them. The fashion business globally is gradually changing–evolving. With the expectations of metaverse and AI becoming our
next reality, where do you picture fashion?
Let me see if I can paint that picture.
What really is metaverse?
The metaverse is simply a virtual reality that imitates the real world in 3D forms.
To gain access to that world from this real one, upon which I’m sitting and typing this piece, I would need an Oculus or VR–virtual reality headset.
If I'm wearing one right now, I'll be in another world with my laptop and clothes–but definitely not tangible. I can't feel them but they will be there with me. Using
the headset with a voice command feature, I can navigate around and possibly find a fashion store and get a new Ankara dress for my girlfriend and have it
delivered in real life.
Ain't that beautiful?
It's more. It's sensational. I will feel like I'm physically in that store.
To see that possibility playing out successfully in metaverse, the business of fashion is going to shift to meet the future. The transformative and interactive
opportunities are unimaginable when you think far into the metaverse. It's like metaverse in metaverse and then it goes on becoming an unending life of
opportunities.
But are we going to forget the real world?
Speaking of the real world, Artificial Intelligence simply known as AI is set to turn things around too.
Judging by the term, the business of AI deals with intelligence that is artificial–not of a human or an animal. Like metaverse, it imitates what's already natural.
And an example is the intelligence displayed by a robot.
When it comes to the range of fascinating designs and products in the fashion industry, I tend to think of innovative mannequins becoming part of our lives
outside metaverse.
AI Mannequins As Mobile Sales Rep And Models On Runway
Imagine for a moment. Mannequins would stop standing in the same spot for the rest of their lives.
They could walk past a lover of red dress on the street wearing one with a price tag and bank account details or a cryptocurrency account address.
Customized AI mannequins could become a thing. A model can catwalk for eternity having one looking and walking like her on runway.
There is no limit to what humans can design. Although, every invention comes with its disadvantages as well as the hitches before global adoption.
In this case, AI might kick out real models–humans, out of the business. Bigger brands will monopolize the metaverse market leaving a huge number of smaller
brands to struggle and possibly never catch up.
But will these possibilities stop designers from being creative?
5 ways to boost your child's confidence in reading.
1. Don’t push your child. When reading with your child, don’t force him to read. Instead make sure that you are
next to each other and he is following along with you as you read. Trace your finger along the text as you read.

2. Give him privacy. Give him time alone to read without an audience. Respect his privacy to read alone.

3. Read to a different audience. Suggest that he read to a puppy, younger sibling, or stuffed animal. None of these
judge or know if a word was read correctly or not. This helps your child build his confidence. My son built so much
confidence by reading to his baby sister. Now even though his confidence is no longer an issue, he still reads to
her often. Everyone wins!

4. Let your child see you struggle with words. I understand that some parents want to seem infallible, but showing
your children that sometimes we have to work hard on a word or two is beneficial too. This was a huge turning
point for my son. While reading a book about Star Wars, I had to sound out many of the characters’ names. My
struggles showed my son that sounding out words while reading wasn’t a sign of weakness but a tool to use no
matter how good of a reader you are.

5. Don’t overcorrect. When your child is reading do not correct her too much. Remember, the goal here is to build
confidence. You will have lots of time to work on accuracy and fluency, but take it one step at a time. If your child
asks for help with a word go for it, but small mistakes or omissions should be overlooked in the name of
confidence for now.

Hello, my name is Jordana,
growing up with Runway Kidz
is magical. Join us now!!!

Let's talk culture
When teaching our children about their heritage and the traditions we would like to see them continue, it can be difficult to balance these with the traditions and ways of
life that they are growing up with and embracing. Simple things like food through to language show just how complex this can be.
Religion, race, traditions, clothes, language, food, film and music can hold great significance in a large majority of people’s lives, but for some cultural identity can be
made up of influences which are not part of the mainstream society they are living in and can often be misunderstood and misinterpreted.
By continuing the practices and culture you enjoy and view as important, in your home, in the way you dress, the language you speak or the food you cook, you are giving
your children the opportunity to share, participate in, and value different cultures and by doing so experience a broad, varied and enriched life.
Staying culturally connected
Accept that your children have interests and hobbies that may be different to the ones you are accustomed to. It helps to show you are interested in what they are doing
and to find ways of including these in the family-based ones that you’d like them to embrace. Celebrate your child's cultural identity and encourage them to get involved
in activities that bring them into direct contact with their culture.
Recognise that if your child is from a different cultural or racial background these may become important as they become older. Be prepared for your child to ask you
questions about their culture, their colour, and people that you know.
Contact groups, organisations or people from your child's background and find out some of the simple steps you can take to help your child develop a positive view of
their identity. For example, skin and hair care, knowledge of food and important customs, important annual, religious or social events. Think of ways that you can help
your child be part of their culture without making it a big deal.
Fun being bilingual
Children will usually adopt the language around them at nursery and school – but this can be difficult for parents who have struggled with learning a new language and
prefer communicating in their mother tongue. Treat this as an opportunity for your children to learn your language - being bi-lingual is an excellent skill to possess.
Sharing experiences
Talk about your own upbringing or stories your parents have told you about their childhoods. If possible, encourage them to spend time with relatives such as
grandparents – or even family friends - who can give them first-hand accounts of life in another country and living within a completely different culture to the one they
know. This is a good way to help them to understand more about their cultural background.
Encourage your children to talk about their traditions and your family’s way of life to their friends and peers (such as classmates) so that they grow up proud and aware of
their cultural differences and are confident when informing others about them.
