Au siècle de la Renaissance vivait Maitre<br />

<strong>Allaire</strong>, chantre de l'église Notre-Dame de<br />

Paris, décédé le 15 avril 1547, la même<br />

année que son souverain, François ter, dont<br />

il fut l'un des musiciens à la Cour.<br />

Rabelais le mentionne dans son Quart Livre<br />

de Pantagruel:<br />

During the Renaissance Period there lived a<br />

Master <strong>Allaire</strong>, cantor of the Notre Dame<br />

Church in Paris. He died on April 15th,<br />

1547, the same year as his king, François I,<br />

at whose court he had served as a musician.<br />

He is mentioned <strong>by</strong> Rabelais in his Quart<br />

Livre the Pantagruel “…And I remember<br />

(for I have a good memory, large enough to<br />

fill a butter pot) having on a day of<br />

“Tubilustre”, a festive day in May where on<br />

lovely grounds, Joaquin de prez, Olkegan,<br />

Hobr<strong>et</strong>z, Agricola, Brumel, Camelinin<br />

Vigoris, De la fage, Bruyer, Prioris, Seguin,<br />
