Next select a speedbutton. The blender will run until theOFF button is pushed. The OFF button is also the CRUSH/ PULSEbutton. This allows instant control ofblending action. The blender runs onlyas long as you hold the button. The Clean functionThe CLEAN function should only be usedto rinse the blender between batchesof processing the same food. When theprocessing of a single type of food isfinished, the blender should bedisassembled and thoroughly cleanedas instructed in “How to Clean.”To use the CLEAN function, pour 2 cups(500 ml) warm water in jar and add 1drop liquid dishwashing detergent. Runthe blender on CLEAN for 10 seconds.Discard soapy water. Rinse with cleanwater. This function is not a substitute forregular cleaning as instructed in “Howto Clean.” This function should neverbe used when blending any mixturecontaining eggs, milk, or any otherdairy products, meats, or seafood.Crushing IceTo get ice that is almost the consistencyof snow, follow these guidelines.• Ice must come directly from thefreezer. Ice that has been stored inan ice chest or ice bucket has alreadystarted to melt. That small amount ofmoisture will not make good dry, crushed ice.• Crush 3 to 4 cups (750 ml to 1 L) ofice at a time.• Use the CRUSH/PULSE button. Press andrelease the button allowing theblender to come to a complete stopbefore pressing again. This allows thechunks of ice to fall on the bladesfor consistent crushing of the ice.NOTE: Continue to pulse until youcannot hear chunks of ice hitting theblender jar, or about 30 to 45 seconds.• If you are crushing ice with a liquid, for a drink or other recipe, thereshould not be more ice than liquidfor best results. Equal amounts ofice and liquid work well, for example2 cups (500 ml) ice and 2 cups (500ml) liquid. Do not try and blend 2cups (500 ml) ice and 1 cup (250 ml)liquid. An air pocket is created aroundthe blades and prevents all the icefrom being crushed.5
