THE CONDENSATION
With the exception of a cause due to a bad connection, it is first of all a natural phenomenon. The main cause is the mounting of the
luminaires in a humid atmosphere, the product being so tight that as soon as the saturation point is reached, the water condenses.
When warm moist air comes into contact with the cold, the water inside the luminaire becomes condensation. When the water
evaporates, it creates an ascending water vapor that can influence the electrical components. Sometimes this water vapor can cause
the electrical installation to trip.
A rapid temperature change also creates a pressure difference which can cause condensation.
Pressure, temperature and humidity of the air are in a constant state of change and this has a not insignificant effect. Regardless of
the tightness of the luminaire, this results in different pressure conditions between the interior of the enclosure and the environment
causing the transport of the air that condenses in the luminaire.
The BEL Lighting warranty does not cover condensation, except if it is proven that the water infiltration is due to a defect of the lamp.
In case of condensation, you must check the following points:
- Is the lamp properly installed?
- Are the seals sealed and the screws and glass tight enough?
- For bollard, it is possible that the humidity coming up from the ground is at the origin of the formation of the condensation.
On most of our bollards and wall lights, we use «sandblasted» glasses, which has the effect of making visible the drops of water due
to condensation (see photo) and make the glass more transparent.
It is recommended when installing:
- Realize assembly and wiring in very dry weather
- Check the tightening condition of all clamping parts and cable glands
- Comply with the recommendations for outdoor wiring
If in doubt, always refer to a professional.
MAINTENANCE
Regular cleaning is recommended with appropriate products to preserve the appearance and integrity of the luminaire surface. Never
use harsh cleaning agents or chemical solutions that may attack the surface. We recommend the use of a damp cloth (microfiber
preferably) or chamois leather and the use of our product «POLI INOX» for the maintenance and cleaning of parts in stainless steel,
brass or copper.
During maintenance, if you find:
- A broken, cracked or unstuck protective glass
- Deterioration in the power cable
- a deteriorated seal
Then the luminaire is unusable, and the damaged parts must be repaired only with original spare parts.
