In the 1870s and 80s, Lester Peltondeveloped and manufactured his revolutionary waterwheel at the foundry. After the turn of the century,everything from ore cars to the Wee Willie juicer andparts for Hoover Dam were produced.Located on Spring Street, Miners Foundry CulturalCenter was first used for a performing arts venue inthe 1970s. Today, it hosts hundreds of yearly eventsincluding concerts, theatre productions and communityfund raisers.The foundry is the site for events such as the ReadersTheater, a Psychic Fair, Fright Night, the bi-annualNevada City Craft Fair and a Mardi Gras MasqueradeBall.
