Almost 130 years ago, the lights of the world lit up in Eindhoven

when the Gerard brothers founded the Philips company,

producing carbon filament lamps. At the start of the twentieth

century, the company became one of the largest manufacturers

in Europe. Today, the factory serves as a museum

in the company's memory, and the Strijp-S district, which

surrounds it, is undergoing major urban transformation.

Today, on the former industrial site, we can find residential,

exhibition and office spaces, particularly popular among

businesses in the creative industry, design and architecture.

Many cafes and restaurants are located on the site, which

has retained its industrial character while attracting artists,

entrepreneurs and creators to make it the epicentre of the

city's renewal.
