" Maison Rogister " - Rue Lairesse 37<br />
Victor Rogister (1874-1955) est l’un <strong>de</strong>s trois architectes les plus importants <strong>de</strong> l’Art nouveau à <strong>Liège</strong>. La maison a été<br />
construite en 1902 pour sa famille <strong>et</strong> lui-même dans le quartier alors en pleine expansion <strong>du</strong> Longdoz a servi <strong>de</strong> vitrine<br />
à son art au début <strong>de</strong> sa carrière. L’étu<strong>de</strong> <strong>de</strong> l’œuvre <strong>de</strong> Rogister par Pierre Hebbelinck (1981) a montré combien c<strong>et</strong>te<br />
maison synthétise déjà son vocabu<strong>la</strong>ire architectural, avec un jeu <strong>de</strong> briques <strong>et</strong> <strong>de</strong> pierres <strong>de</strong> taille, <strong>de</strong>s vitraux à motifs<br />
cordiformes, <strong>de</strong>s sculptures d’Oscar Berchmans <strong>et</strong> un sgraffite figuratif (sans doute dû à Jules Alexandre, proche <strong>de</strong><br />
l’architecte), complété par <strong>la</strong> <strong>de</strong>vise en <strong>la</strong>tin « l’art est esprit <strong>et</strong> matière ». Pour <strong>la</strong> première fois, l’ensemble <strong>de</strong> <strong>la</strong> faça<strong>de</strong><br />
a fait l’obj<strong>et</strong> d’un programme compl<strong>et</strong> <strong>de</strong> restauration suivant le proj<strong>et</strong> initial <strong>de</strong> l’architecte.<br />
