DISCUSSION, SUMMARY
Our results rule out the lung as the source of
circulating ACE. Moreover, it was found that ACE
activity is endogenously controlled by inhibitors.
Our data opens up a new direction in this fi eld:
it suggests that cardiovascular disease may start
by dysregulation of endogenous control of ACE
activity. The next step of the research is therefore
to identify the key elements of ACE regulation and
to relate them to the clinical states of the disease.
