Berikut adalah contoh-contoh saranan yang telah diputuskan
semasa Persidangan „Global Earth Summit‟ yang menjadi asas kepada
pembentukan akta dan undang-undang berkaitan dengan alam sekitar.
• Kyoto Protocol 1997
160 nations proposed a treaty to curb carbon
dioxide emissions. If ratified, the treaty will commit
industrialized nations to reduce carbon dioxide
emissions to about 5 % low 1990 levels by 2012.
India and China are not bound by the Kyoto
agreement. Many observers are concerned that the
benefits of the treaty could be overwhelmed by
emissions from such nations, which are home to
more than one-third of Earth‟s people as they strive
to industrialize and increase their standard of living.
• Vienna Convention 1985
The Vienna Convention for the protection of the
ozone layer was adopted on 22 March 1985 in
Vienna, Austria. The Convention pledges the Parties
commitment to protect human health and the
environment from the effects of ozone depletion and
provides for participating countries to cooperate in
research, observations and information exchange.
• The Montreal Protocol 1987
The Montreal protocol on substances that deplete
the Ozone layer was adopted on 16 September
1987 in Montreal, Canada. Under the Montreal
Protocol, the production and consumption of
controlled (ozone depleting) substances are to be
reduced and phase-out and the development and
introduction of alternatives and other processes are
stepped up.
