– Usually complicated by portal hypertension (with<br />
or without cirrhosis)<br />
Arterial hypoxemia<br />
– PaO 2 < 70 mm Hg (10 kpa) or AaO 2 gra<strong>di</strong>ent > 20<br />
mm Hg while breathing room air<br />
Intrapulmonary vascular <strong>di</strong>latation (IPVD)<br />
– Delayed, positive contrast-enhanced<br />
echocar<strong>di</strong>ography results or extrapulmonary (brain<br />
uptake of ra<strong>di</strong>oisotope after 99m TcMAA lung<br />
scanning.<br />
