Its enchanting Gothic façade has been<br />
refl ected in the waters of the Venetian lagoon<br />
since the 14th century and since the<br />
19th century, when it became the Hotel<br />
Danieli, its fame has never ceased to travel,<br />
together with that of its celebrated guests.<br />
Palazzo Dandolo, built on the orders of<br />
the noble family of doges, is one of the three<br />
buildings that make up the hotel, which is<br />
owned by the Statuto Group and managed<br />
by Starwood Hotels & Resorts. Th e<br />
recent restoration, overseen by the architect<br />
Pierre-Yves Rochon, has reinstated three<br />
new suites named respectively after Greta<br />
Garbo, Maria Callas and Princess Grace<br />
of Monaco, which supplement the Royal<br />
Suite. Th e place is full of historical atmospheres<br />
and has an incomparable view.<br />

tradizione popolare mediterranea,<br />
in quanto tale annovera molte<br />
varianti. Questa che vi proponiamo<br />
è la meno elaborata e più veloce<br />
da eseguire.<br />
Th e recipe – L’Acqua Sala is<br />
a dish of the Mediterranean<br />
popular tradition, and as such<br />
has many variants. Th e one we're<br />
off ering you is the least elaborate<br />
and quickest to make.<br />
Disporre in una terrina da<br />
tavola, la cipolla tagliata a fettine<br />
sottili e uno spicchio d’aglio,<br />
privato dell’animella. Aggiungere<br />
i pomodori tagliati a metà, di<br />
cui una parte la schiacciate<br />
per farne fuoriuscire il succo.<br />
Bagnate in acqua tiepida il pane<br />
e spezzatelo grossolanamente<br />
nella terrina. Integrate con altra<br />
acqua, fi no a coprire i pomodori,<br />
olio e sale q.b. e spolverate con<br />
origano o sminuzzate le foglie di<br />
basilico. Servite e inebriatevi con<br />
un rosato pugliese di Schinosa,<br />
ghiacciato e naturalmente con<br />
le note di Bridge Over Troubled<br />
Water.<br />
Execution – Place in a table<br />
bowl the onion cut into thin slices<br />
and a clove of garlic, with the<br />
core removed. Add the tomatoes<br />
cut in half, some of them crushed<br />
to make the juice come out. Wet<br />
the bread in tepid water and<br />
break it up roughly into the bowl.<br />
Add other water, until the tomatoes<br />
are covered, then oil and salt<br />
to taste, and dust with marjoram<br />
or crumbled basil leaves. Serve<br />
and enjoy with a Schinosa rosé<br />
of Apulia, iced, and naturally<br />
with the notes of Bridge Over<br />
Troubled Water.<br />
