Nel 1496, pochi anni dopo la morte di<br />
Lorenzo il Magnifico, <strong>Michelangelo</strong> andò<br />
a Roma.<br />
Qui ebbe modo di conoscere meglio l’arte<br />
classica e due anni dopo realizzò la<br />
Pietà, un gruppo scultoreo che rappresenta<br />
la Vergine Maria mentre tiene sulle<br />
ginocchia il corpo del figlio morto, in<br />
una perfetta composizione piramidale.<br />
