Il musical si basa su “Il libro dei Gatti tuttofare”
di t.S. eliot: una raccolta di poesie con protagonisti
dei gatti. Webber ha musicato tutte
le poesie della raccolta per costruire la storia
del musical. Memory, la canzone più famosa,
è stata invece scritta da trevor Nunn ispiratosi
alla poesia di eliot “rapsodia su una notte
di vento”.

The musical is based on the “Old Possum’s Book of
Practical Cats” by T.S. eliot, a collection of poems
about cats. Webber set all the poems in the collection
to music to construct the story of the musical. Memory,
the most famous song, was written by Trevor nunn
inspired by eliot’s poem “rhapsody on a windy
night”.

rancia, preparata all’altezza di Broadway. l’edizione della
Compagnia della rancia, definita dalla stampa, al suo debutto,

a production every bit as good as the Broadway version. The edition
of Compagnia della rancia, defined by the press at its debut as “the
musical of the year”, has already enchanted over 200,000 spectators

Italy.

di durata (8.949 repliche) fu battuto solo nel 2006 da I Miserabili.

7.485 repliche e il record fu battuto nel gennaio 2006 da un altro musical di andrew lloyd Webber:

• La canzone Memory è stata incisa da circa 150 artisti diversi.
• Cats è stato rappresentato in 26 paesi, in più di 300 città ed è stato tradotto in dieci lingue.
