SUMMARY
This report presents an inventory of marine, benthic macro-organisms (algae, evertebrates,
fish) from the areas of Svalbard (including Bear Island) and Jan Mayen. Data (species
records) from published and unpublished sources are presented and compiled in a database
using the programme ACCESS. The database contains also the geographical co-ordinates of
the sampling location from which the different taxa are recorded as well as some information
about the species and ecological conditions. The database is adapted to function as a basis for
a biogeographical analysis. This report is a presentation of material and examples which can
be extracted from the database.
This work is part of a larger work whose goal is to map marine “nature values” near Svalbard
(including Bear Island) and Jan Mayen.
SAMMENDRAG
I dette arbeidet presenteres data fra en kartlegging av marine, bunnlevende makro-organismer
(alger, evertebrater og fisk) ved Svalbard (inkludert Bjørnøya) og Jan Mayen. Data fra
publiserte og upubliserte arbeider om funnsted for registrerte arter er lagt inn i en database
basert på programmet ACCESS. Databasen inneholder også økologisk informasjon som kan
relateres til artene og funnstedene. Databasen er bl.a. konstruert slik at det er mulig å
gjennomføre en biogeografisk analyse. I denne rapporten er utdrag av databasen presentert i
figurer og tabeller. Det er spesielt lagt vekt på forekomst og hyppighet av arter.
Dette arbeidet inngår i et større arbeid hvor målet er å kartlegge marinbiologiske naturverdier
rundt Svalbard (inkludert Bjørnøya) og Jan Mayen.
