With over twenty years of professional experience as a landscape designer, Rainer Schmidt runs one
of the largest and most well-known landscape architecture practices in Germany.
The firm employs is a staff of approximately 25.
It has three offices in Germany: the head office is in Munich; one branch office is in Berlin and the
other in Bernburg.
Rainer Schmidt is about to establish a branch office in Beijing, China.
Also Rainer Schmidt teaches at the Technical University of Applied Sciences in Berlin.
The office is specialized in the planning and realisation of largescale projects in landscape architecture,
environmental planning, urban design and supervision both in Germany and abroad. The aim of
this firm is to find suitable approaches to the problems of our time.
The firm strives to achieve a balance between design, function, emotion and conservation. Rainer
Schmidt was born in 1954. He studied land management at the University of Applied Sciences in
Weihenstephan near Munich. After working as an office and project head for the Gottfried Hansjakob
landscape architecture office in Munich for over twelve years, he began freelance work in 1982. He was
appointed to a professorship in 1991.
