Stadtbefestigung: Das Ursulinentor wurde
1758 wegen des Transportes eines großen
Brunnens ausgeschlagen, die Fresken darauf
stammen von Johannes von Bruneck (um
1420) . Das östliche Ragentor führt in die
Oberstadt und ist mit einem Gründerfresko
versehen; das Florianitor trägt eine Malerei
des Südtiroler Künstlers Rudolf Stolz, und das
vierte Tor, das Rienztor, wurde früher „tor by
dem spital“ genannt . Das Schloss Bruneck ist
umgeben von einer mächtigen Wehrmauer
mit Türmen und Rondell . Im Inneren erhebt
sich ein frei stehender Bergfried, an dem
sich die Fürstenzimmer anschließen . Ab
Sommer 2011 beherbergt das Schloss das
altoatesino Rudolf Stolz, mentre la quarta
porta, la Rienza, era anticamente chiamata
“tor by dem spital” .

All’interno si erge un mastio isolato, al quale
si collegano le stanze vescovili . Dall’estate
2011 il Castello ospiterà il nuovo Messner
Mountain Museum MMMRIPA, aperto quasi
tutto l’anno .
Il cimitero di guerra di Brunico, detto
degli Eroi, è immerso nei larici e costituisce
un’opera molto particolare: le semplici croci
di legno ricordano i caduti sul fronte delle
Dolomiti durante la Prima e la Seconda guer-

be open almost all year round .
Bruneck’s war cemetery, a cemetery in
a wood of larch trees, is one of the most
beautiful of its kind . Those who fell on

die Pfarrkirche, mit wertvollem Kruzifix
von Michael Pacher und der größten Orgel
Südtirols – der Mathis-Orgel (erbaut 1983),
sowie die Rainkirche am Schlossberg mit
interessanten Wappen und die schöne, renovierte
Barockkirche zum heiligen Geist .

Di particolare attrattiva sono inoltre la
Chiesa parrocchiale che conserva il
prezioso crocifisso di Michael Pacher e
l’organo Mathis, il più grande dell’Alto
Adige (costruito nel 1983), inoltre la Chiesa
di Santa Caterina sul colle del castello,
che conserva interessanti stemmi e la
Chiesa dello Spirito Santo, una bella chiesa
barocca ristrutturata .

The parish church is also considered to be
well worth seeing, with its valuable crucifix
by Michael Pacher and the largest organ of
South Tyrol, the Mathis-Orgel (built in 1983),

beautiful renovated baroque church of
the Holy Ghost .
