Hungary, for example, presents itself with enormous
drums, Qatar with a big basket-like building, England
constructed a giant beehive, The Netherlands a Ferris
wheel and Azerbaijan transparent spheres. Other
countries, which do not have their own pavilion are
hosted in shared areas revolving around similar topics:
rice, cocoa, coffee, fruit and legumes, spices, cereals
and tubers, bio-mediterranean, island sea and seafood
and arid areas.
The Italian pavilion, a four floor sustainable building,
has gone all out to be exceptional in the eyes of the
world. Each floor represents: ‘the power of knowhow’(creativity
and innovation); ‘the power of beauty’
(tourism and quality of life); ‘the power of limit’
(tradition and management of nutritional resources);
and ‘the power of the future’, (Italian bio-diversity).
The first thing you should know about the Milan
Expo is that is isn’t actually located in Milan, but in
Rho, an area outside the city. The easiest way to reach
it is by taking the underground Metro line 1 (ticket
costs 2,50€). Expo tickets are available online, through
the official app, or by authorised sellers all around the
city. The best way to get the cheapest rates is to fix an
exact day: in this case the ticket costs 27€. Discounts
are available for families (67€ for mother, father and
two children), students, elderly and disabled.

Lungo il Cardo e il Decumano si affacciano i padiglioni
dei paesi che hanno deciso di realizzarne uno: tutti
sfoggiano architetture pazzesche, l’Ungheria, per
esempio, si presenta con degli enormi tamburi, il
Qatar con un edificio a forma di cesto, l’Inghilterra ha
realizzato un gigantesco alveare, l’Olanda una ruota
panoramica e l’Azerbaijan delle sfere trasparenti.
Gli altri paese che non hanno un loro padiglione sono
ospitati in nove aree comuni, intorno a uno stesso tema:
riso, cacao, caffè, frutta e legumi, spezie, cereali e tuberi,
bio-mediterraneo, isole mare e cibo, zone aride.
Il Padiglione Italia, naturalmente, è un po’ più speciale
degli altri. È un edificio ad alta sostenibilità energetica
di quattro piani. Ogni piano rappresenta un punto
di forza dell’Italia sul tema dell’Expo: la “potenza del
saper fare” (creatività e innovazione); “la potenza della
bellezza” (turismo e qualità della vita); “la potenza del
limite”, (tradizione e gestione delle risorse alimentari); “la
potenza del futuro”, (biodiversità italiana).
I biglietti possono essere acquistati online, sulla app
ufficiale, o dai rivenditori autorizzati sparsi per la
città. Il modo migliore per usufruire delle tariffe più
economiche è fissare il giorno esatto: in questo caso il
biglietto costa 27 euro. Sono previsti sconti per famiglie
(67 euro per mamma, papà e due figli), studenti, anziani
e disabili.
The long summer on stage
For the Expo semester the Piccolo Teatro di Milano proposes
from may to october a continuous programme of theatre, dance,
music and cinema. The curtains of the three auditoriums, Teatro
Strehler, Teatro Studio Melato and Teatro Grassi, will
raise on more than 300 shows: the great theatrical productions
of the Piccolo, the best of italian and international theatre, both
traditional and experimental, and
an international Dance Festival.
The renaissance bramantesque
cloister “Nina Vinchi”, transformed
into the Piccolo’s forth stage, will
become the heart of Milan, always
open to the public, with a non-stop
series of cultural events and meetings.
Spectators can choose, even
from the comfort of the literary
café’s tables, from a menu of theatre,
jazz concerts, open-air cinema
and workshop-shows for children,
in a unique atmosphere.
The Italian productions will be
shown with English surtitles, and
the international productions will
be performed in their original language
with surtitles in Italian.
Per tutto il semestre dell’Expo, il Piccolo
Teatro di Milano propone una programmazione
ininterrotta di teatro, danza,
musica e cinema. Il sipario delle tre sale,
Teatro Strehler, Teatro Studio Melato e
Teatro Grassi, si alza su oltre 300 appuntamenti
di spettacolo: le grandi produzioni
teatrali del Piccolo, il meglio del teatro italiano
e dal mondo, tra tradizione e ricerca
e un Festival internazionale di danza.
Il Chiostro rinascimentale di scuola bramantesca
“Nina Vinchi”, trasformato nel
quarto palcoscenico del Piccolo, diventa il
cuore di Milano, sempre aperto al pubblico
con un’offerta continuativa di cultura e
di incontro. Gli spettatori possono scegliere,
anche seduti ai tavoli del caffè letterario,
tra prosa, concerti jazz, cinema all’aperto
e spettacoli-laboratorio per ragazzi,
immersi in un’atmosfera unica.
Gli spettacoli italiani saranno proposti
con i sovratitoli in inglese mentre gli spettacoli
internazionali saranno proposti in
lingua originale e sovratitolati in italiano.
