Salotti Impero
(1800-1815)
Con lo stile Impero il mobile neoclassico
subisce una netta semplificazione di linee e
forme che rendono i mobili aulici e severi.
Le sedute si differenziano molto rispetto ai
modelli precedenti e viene introdotto un
nuovo tipo di schienale rovesciato all’indietro
e terminante a ricciolo. Le gambe si curvano
per assumere una forma a sciabola e i
braccioli avanzano di nuovo per allinearsi con
le gambe anteriori che assumono le forme più
varie: erme, zampe di leone, telamoni, cigni e
leoni alati realizzati a intaglio. In un nuovo
modello di poltrona di grande successo, detto
“a gondola”, lo schienale si raccorda alle
gambe anteriori con due traversi ricurvi. Il
legno più usato è il mogano con parti dorate e
apllicazioni in bronzo.
Drawing Rooms Empire Style
(1800-1815)
In the Empire style, neoclassic furniture
undergoes a strong simplification of lines and
shapes making the furniture more severe. The
seats are completely different from those of
previous periods and a new model for the back
is introduced: it’s turned upside down and ends
in a curl. The legs bend and assume a saber
shape, while the armrests tend to line up with
the front legs which take on various shapes:
carved hermae, lion paws, telamons, swans and
winged lions. A new armchair model is
introduced which soon obtains a great success,
is known as the “gondola-shaped”. The back is
fixed to the front legs through two bent
crosspieces. The most commonly used wood is
mahogany with gilded highlights and bronze
applications.
