furnished in wood, is not to be missed where<br />
wonderful, hand-painted pottery vases, which are called<br />
“alborelle” in Tuscan, are found, used for keeping<br />
healing herbs and spices. It is also possible to buy<br />
cosmetics, liquers, food.Various kinds of internships,<br />
seminars and conventions are organized: Camaldoli<br />
Cultura onlus is very active. Thus, a modern setting<br />
on an ancient soul. Within the library, there is the<br />
cell of San Romualdo, founder of the Hermitage who<br />
spent nearly all his time in prayer, work and the study<br />
of his environment made up of the characteristic<br />
elements: study, chapel and cell. It is also possible to<br />
visit the beautiful church, built a little after the year<br />
1000 which, with the passing of time became rather<br />
degraded and was rebuilt in the 13th century. It is<br />
said that St. Francis was present at the consecration.<br />
The present Baroque style is due to 16th and 17thcentury<br />
restoration works while the façade is of the<br />
18th century. We are thus taken back to a time which<br />
embraces us with its ancient 1000-year-old charm, seeped<br />
in history yet so topical in its hospitality, organization<br />

Da non perdere l’Antica Farmacia completamente<br />
arredata in legno, dove si trovano magnifici vasi in<br />
ceramica dipinta a mano che in Toscana vengono<br />
chiamati “alborelle”, utilizzati per contenere erbe e<br />
spezie curative. Si possono anche acquistare cosmetici,<br />
liquori, prodotti alimentari. Vengono organizzati<br />
stage, seminari e convegni di vario tipo: Camaldoli<br />
Cultura onlus è molto attiva. Un’impostazione moderna<br />
su un’anima antica, dunque. All’interno della<br />
biblioteca si trova la cella di San Romualdo, fondatore<br />
dell’Eremo che trascorreva quasi tutto il tempo fra<br />
preghiera, lavoro e studio nel suo ambiente composto<br />
da tre elementi caratteristici: studio, cappella e camera.<br />
Si può poi visitare la bellissima chiesa: costruita<br />
poco dopo l’anno 1000, con il passare del tempo si<br />
degradò e venne ricostruita nel XIII secolo. Si narra<br />
che San Francesco fosse presente alla consacrazione.<br />
L’attuale stile barocco è dovuto ai restauri nel XVI e<br />
XVII secolo, mentre la facciata è del XVIII. Si viene<br />
così proiettati indietro in un tempo che ci avvolge col<br />
suo fascino antico di 1000 anni, carico di storia eppure<br />
così attuale nella sua accoglienza, nella sua organizzazione<br />
