On the Water New

On the Water New Horizons From left: dining on board Fincantieri’s Blanche; the distinctive three masts of Sea Eagle II by Royal Huisman instance – but it still has the time and the will to build smaller yachts at its Rendsburg facilities. The recent launch, Project 13800, is proof of this. The 55m four-deck motor yacht is the smallest build at the yard in recent years and is inspired by its 1973 classic Carinthia VI (now The One). That was designed by the late Jon Bannenberg, and fittingly it is his son Dickie’s firm, Bannenberg & Rowell, that has created the exteriors and colourful interiors of this latest model. Creating firsts has also been on the agenda for Vollenhove-based Royal Huisman (royalhuisman.com). After a series of successful sail trials, the Dutch yard delivered the 81m three-masted schooner Sea Eagle II, its largest ever project and the largest aluminium sailing yacht yet built. Designed by Dykstra Naval Architects and Briton Mark Whiteley, she is capable of speeds of over 21 knots thanks primarily to the Rondal rig, produced in Vollenhove and fine-tuned at Royal Huisman’s Amsterdam facilities. The three carbon masts can carry 3,500sq m of sails, controlled by 34 winches, the largest of which is able to withhold a remarkable 18 tonnes of pulling load. It’s the interior of Blanche by Fincantieri ( fincantieriyachts.it) that is made to catch the eye. The ambitious 70m project, introduced at the end of June, is set to be a timeless beauty with a strong Italian imprint. The La Speziabased yard has worked with compatriots at the Gabriele Teruzzi studio to maximise space on board, creating a comprehensive backdrop of facilities for well-being and relaxation. With a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots and 14 guests accommodated in seven cabins, Blanche will be a sight to behold when she comes to fruition. The latest creation from Benetti (benettiyachts.it) benefits from exceptional space on board as well. Delivered this year, Benetti’s Lana at 107 metres long, offers ample space across eight cabins the 107m Lana (formerly Project FB 277) boasts vast social areas, all of which – from ample lounges to cosy salons – are arranged to take full advantage of life at sea. A beach house with two foldable terraces heads the list of other amenities, alongside a jacuzzi, pool, gym, spa and helipad. A selection of toys (Seabobs and jet skis included) round out an experience that can be sampled around the world through charter company Imperial.
