On the Water Perfect Match Vision Comes First Bespoke builds come naturally to CRN, the Italian shipyard that has been putting owners’ dreams at the centre of its designs for decades. By John McNamara T he picturesque port of Ancona, with its historic centre and idyllic placement on the Adriatic, seems the perfect place to build dreams – and that is exactly what CRN sets out to do at its facilities there. Part of the Ferretti Group, CRN designs and builds iconic, fully bespoke 45- to 95-metre steel and aluminium yachts, creating a niche all of its own amid the eponymous Ferretti brand as well as sister marques Pershing, famed for its superfast sports yachts, and the historic standard bearers of Italian style on the water, Riva. “Everything depends on the owner’s wish – this is CRN,” Stefano de Vivo, the chief commercial officer of the Ferretti Group and CRN executive board member, states emphatically of the brand’s philosophy, which results in custom yachts built to exact visions. It’s a philosophy that has served CRN well from its formation in 1963 to today when, despite the effects of the pandemic, it has maintained an impressive rate of production. In July, CRN M/Y 137, now named Voice, a 62m Nuvolari Lenard-designed aluminium and steel motor yacht, was delivered. This will be followed by CRN M/Y 138 (also 62m), a design by Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, which is under construction; CRN 139, with a Vallicelli Design exterior and a 60 CENTURION-MAGAZINE.COM

The yard has also recently announced the signing of a contract for a new custom 52-metre full-aluminium yacht, hull number 142, with a concept by Omega and interiors by Massari Design.
