When Gräbeldinger came across one such specimen at a flea market in New York, he was immediately fascinated. “It’s hard to find such stylish and quality craftsmanship these days, “ he explains. Together with his business partner, Gräbeldinger began a worldwide search for siphons, which he then restored painstakingly by hand. “After some 80 years, the original gaskets are no longer usable – we replace these. We also clean all the individual parts and, if necessary, we re-chrome them,” says Gräbeldinger, who notes that despite the changes, available cartridges still fit. And while these siphons might very well be the ultimate accessory for every bar, it seems they are also a hit with customers who are, in increasing numbers, purchasing them for use as table decorations oras the most timeless way to transform ordinary water into something beautiful.
