FAHRBERICHT: KTM SX FACTORY BIKES KTM 450 SX-F #222 Cairoli Was sagt Tony über sein Bike-Set-up? O-Ton: We are always improving the bike. This year we went a bit stiffer suspension-wise front and rear on the compression, and also on the engine there was a big change – I’ve been getting used to the bottom power and more torque. The chassis was quite different – in the beginning it was quite a big difference to get used to how the bike handles over the previous generation, but it improved a lot. We can see the result, as we only missed the podium twice (so far) and we are really happy with the bike. The fork on my bike is quite hard compared with other riders, and the shock is quite comfortable, but still with plenty of room to not bottom out. My bars are neutral, with quite low levers – they aren’t straight. I prefer the comfort of them being like this, and it’s better for standing – I stand a lot. The brake and gear lever are standard in position. I like the engine with a lot of middle power and a lot of torque, so I can use the engine in the safe zone or so to say. We don’t really change the bike much between hardpack and sand; we have a good base setting, so it’s just a few clicks here and there. When thinking about Valkenswaard, it is kind of a strange track, as it’s always a mixture of deep sand and hardpack, because it’s quite often frozen there and the ground is hard. It’s quite difficult for me to set the bike up for this track, so I am some way between the sand and hardpack setup. ....................................................................................................
