HDA Welcomes 2017 With Changes and Enhanced Member Opportunities By Kurt Landwehr, Hardwood Industries HDA President Board of Directors Changes A sincere thank you to outgoing board members Norm Roberts, of Roberts Plywood located in Deer Park, NY, and Brian Potter, of Pike Lumber Co., in Akron, IN, for their commitment and years of service on the Board of Directors for the Hardwood Distributor’s Association. The HDA Board also welcomes two new board members – Jordan McIlvain, vice president of Alan McIlvain Company, of Marcus Hook, PA, and John Mortati, of Peterman Lumber Co., located in Fontana, CA. New Member Benefits in Development – Truth Behind Lumber Tally Imagine empowering distribution customers with the ability to quickly and effectively check lumber tally on inbound shipments using an online or app-based program. HDA leadership has continued preliminary work on the development cost and feasibility of such a tool. This lumber tally tool has been HDA distributors new ways to strengthen customer relationships and service. The executive committee would appreciate any ideas or comments on development of the lumber tally application. Look for more exciting information on the tally app in months to come. Eliminating the need for a man to turn the log and another to set-up the carriage, the head sawyer was now able to do it all by using electricity and compressed air.
