This position will supervise lumber yard activities to ensure the manufacturing facility has adequate supply of kiln-dried lumber in multiple hardwood species available daily. Responsible and accountable for providing leadership in the lumber yard, sorter building and kilns to achieve departmental and plant business objectives. Meet budgeted cost objectives. Develop a supplier certification system. Manage, train, provide performance feedback and assign duties to four direct reports to ensure productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. Coordinate with and provide support to other functional areas within the facility. Develop and implement a system to measure, track, and analyze supplier and material effectiveness, price, and reliability. Essential Qualifications and Skills The successful candidate will possess 7+ years of lumber and grading experience and a technical understanding of lumber handling equipment, kilns, and grading. Demonstrated successful ability to lead people and get results. Successful experience in employee training and development including that of peers and subordinates (especially as it relates to species identification, kiln operation, and lumber grading). Quality orientation and attention to detail. Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking and decision-making skills. Able to routinely lift 40 lbs. Demonstrated successful ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively with cross-functional business teams. A High School Diploma or GED is required.
