Mullican Flooring, through its distributor Derr Flooring, donated the flooring for the house built for U.S. Army SSgt. Casey Jones and his family in Knoxville, TN. Jones lost both legs in Afghanistan in May 2013 when he stepped on a pressure-plate improvised explosive device, which detonated beneath him as he was working to clear a compound. “Staff Sergeant Jones has had quite a distinguished military career,” NWFA President and CEO Michael Martin said. “He has earned a Purple Heart, two Army Commendation medals, an NCO Development Award, two Good Conduct medals and the Afghanistan Campaign Medal. We’re honored to partner with Mullican and Derr to provide flooring for his new home.” NWFA is working with its members to source wood flooring for another 17 Restoring Independence Supporting Empowerment houses that are in various stages of planning and construction.
