65 Years of Note - Delta

65 Years of Note - Delta Cedar Broadening Its Name To Match Scope Part of Delta Cedar’s Halo Sawmill is pictured. In 2023, the Delta Cedar company is recognizing its 65 years in the log and lumber industry, noting the changes from a startup to the integrated company it is today. Over the years, Delta has broadened its scope of business with expertise across four main divisions: Delta Cedar Specialties, Delta Cedar Sawmill, Halo Sawmill, and Delta Timber. In 2023, the company launched a new name and brand for the entire organization, the Delta Forestry Group, to reflect the depth and breadth of its products and services. “While we have been wading through the unexpected market changes like everyone else in the industry this year, we have DC PREMIER Appearance timbers and 2” dimension A division of the Delta Forestry Group Logging - Milling - Finishing DC SUPERIOR STK kiln dried fascia, decking, siding and boards Delta Forestry Group head office located at 17630 Fraser Dyke Road, Pitt Meadows BC V3Y 0A7 also used the time to focus on our strengths and make sure that we are maximizing all of our in-house expertise to bring value-added products and services to our customers,” says Dean Garofano, President and C.O.O., “And launching the Delta Forestry Group brand is one of the ways we let customers know we can support their business in more ways than perhaps they realize.” In the last year, Delta relocated and opened its main office in Pitt Meadows, British Columbia, Canada, at the Halo Sawmill site in January, finished the installation of a significant capital project this summer at Halo Sawmill, and launched a new company website (www.deltaforestrygroup.com). Relocating the main office out to Halo late in 2022 brought the entire admin team together (the new address is 17630 Fraser DC SUPREME STK green fascia decking, siding, and boards Delta Cedar Specialties 604 589 9006 deltaforestrygroup.com DC SELECT std&btr no hole green decking and boards Wrapped Delta lumber Dyke Road, Pitt Meadows, British Columbia) as well as closer to the production floor. “Closer teams boost the workflow for ourselves, and especially for our customers, as we are able to work efficiently to service and support our customers when our internal teams are a little closer together,” says Dean Garofano. In 2023, Delta promoted and welcomed new employees, expanding their competencies. The fresh perspectives of the newly promoted and hired allow every company an opportunity to review the customary ways of doing things and apply innovative tweaks. A significant milestone in 2023 was the completion of construction for the multi-million-dollar upgrade at Halo Sawmill. “Completing the installation and upgrade of the optimized Rapture automated trim line in 2023 was a major milestone for the Halo and the Delta Forestry Group,” says Glen Franke, “The Rapture feeds into a newly installed 80-bin sorter, enhancing overall production and grade recovery. “This new equipment is an essential step forward and part of our broader investment in the future of this company. The automated Rapture trim line expands our capabilities for increased production and supports our commitment to getting the most yield from every log by maximizing lumber grade recovery,” Franke notes. “This fits with our commitment to supply our customers with consistent, reliable, top-quality products for many more years to come,” says Garofano. A virtual milestone in 2023 is the launch of an expanded website under the Delta Forestry Group banner www.deltaforestrygroup.com. “It is more convenient for our customers to find all our products and services on one website. We anticipate continued interest by our Delta Cedar Specialties customers who want to view products, but being able to see what else is going on across the company can add value in other ways,” observes Dean Garofano, “We are able to highlight the depth of expertise that runs across our integrated process from forest floor to customer door.” Growth in this industry takes many forms. The Delta Forestry Group and its four divisions, Delta Cedar Specialties, Delta Cedar Sawmill, Halo Sawmill, and Delta Timber, are proud members of the North American Wholesale Lumber Association (NAWLA), the Truck Loggers Association, and B.C.Wood. In 2023, we are pursuing partnerships to expand our access to fiber supply and open avenues to innovation. Delta Cedar Specialties proudly produces a wide range of Cedar products from low grades right through to vertical grain clears. Delta is best known for their knotty line of products, which include: DC PREMIER TIMBERS Our Premier line of Appearance grade timbers in rough or S4S.
