How to get efficiently and
economically from field to feed

The first thing a farmer should
consider before investing in
machinery is whether the company

Looking at the equipment, for spreading
muck to fertilise and prepare pastures at the
beginning of the field to feed cycle, the
company imports the versatile Rolland
Spreaders from France, which are proving to
be reliable and efficient machines.
To cut pastures pursuant to making silage,
the heavy duty Malone mowers from Ireland
are proving to be resilient, and remarkably
suited to the generally harsh African
conditions. with either the fixed or trailed disc
Malone mowers, silage material is cut cleanly
and evenly, which is conducive to re-growth. It
should also be noted in the event of hitting
rocks or other obstacles, it is commonly
accepted, it can be very expensive to replace
a cutter bar. However, not so with a Malone;
its cutter bar costs considerably less than that
of its competitors.
After mowing and raking into windrows the
next step in the cycle is baling. This is covered
by the superlative McHale balers and
wrappers, which Greenfields also imports
from Ireland. In order to make life easier for
farmers, Greenfields supplies Greenwrap, its
proprietary, imported brand of plastic wrap,
which outperforms any local product.
The recently announced F5000 McHale
range of balers has a number of exciting
enhancements; ensuring baling has never
been easier or more efficient.
This range of balers has better intake
capabilities, more chopping options, a
smoother drop floor operation, superior
controls and up to 10% higher density bales,
which simplifies life for operators and results
in a more reliable machine that is easy to
maintain.
The F5000 line up is represented by the
F5400 non-chopper baler and the F5500 15
knife chopper baler. And the F5000 range of
balers is equipped with a split-drive gearbox,
which ensures power is evenly distributed
between the rollers in the bale chamber and
the pickup and chopper unit.
In line with the current trend towards
mechanization, Greenfields is able to offer the
highly sophisticated McHale Fusion, which
both bales and wraps in one operation. The
advantage of this is that farmers can therefore
save on two pieces of equipment by not
having to use another tractor or a stand-alone
wrapper. The added advantage is speed of
operation and less need for skilled labour.
when it comes to reduced farming
operations or plot holders, Greenfields has
the reliable Star B70 and B90 balers, which
make bales of 700 mm and 900 mm
diameter respectively. These are ideal for
smaller landowners as the bales, especially
the B70 ones, are easy to handle without
requiring specialised bale-handling
equipment.
After baling, the next step in the cycle is
covered by the Siloking range of feed mixers
from Germany. Siloking is the top supplier of
this equipment in europe and their mixers
thoroughly blend ingredients to deliver a
wholly balanced feed with the correct level of
nutrients, to produce what is known as a total

such as the soft touch steering wheel, and
