Conclusions: • There is a clear difference between rotating the chopper mirror around its vertex as compared to rotating it around an offset pivot. • This is because rotating around an offset pivot point gives both a rotation of the surface as well as a translation. • As a result the reflection at mirror M6 occurs at a different part of the curved surface with a different local normal, changing the angle of reflection. • For a rotation around an offset pivot point the edge rays from the diplexer pupil pass the rim / edge of mirror M4 at a smaller distance than for a rotation around the vertex when looking into the <strong>CSA</strong> optics. • From the spot diagram and by measuring the offset in chief ray distance when passing M4, the lateral offset correspond to about 2.5 mm. • This means that a larger rotation around the pivot point is required to get the chief ray at the same location as compared to the case of rotation around the vertex. Graphs showing potential 4w clearance violations We next ray-traced the 4w edge rays of the diplexer pupil in the zero-wavelength limit through the system to check for the required 4w clearance in the <strong>CSA</strong> path.
