portrait pasted on. In good condition, the overlapping edges quite
ragged, a small tear in the tail of the spine, spine ends a little
worn. Inside fine. During the correction of the proofs of this book, the
subject passed away, according to a moving text right after the title page.

This copy with signed dedication on the flyleaf by André Bloc, one of the
artists in the book. Another dedication on the flyleaf reads: “aan W.
Vanermen / 8 mei 1956” (To Walter Vanermen [Belgian painter]). The
second dedication is unsigned, and in another hand. – € 60,-
KLENGEL, Johann Christian – Principes de Dessein pour les
Paysages. Dresden: Henry Rittner, [n.d., ca. 1801]. Oblong folio,
unpaginated. 12 large full-page etched plates with trees, leaves,
and foliage, intended as a manual for the budding artist. The final
3 plates are full compositions, while the remaining 9 show smaller
compositions or details. Original half leather with letterpress
paper-covered boards. In good condition, but.nNot the freshest
copy: the cover soiled, lower margin of the four first plates
dampstained (also a bit in the plate), margins a bit foxed, spine
rubbed. An extremely rare publication, not found in WorldCat, nor in
DNB, nor in any other database. No recent auction records found.
Johann Christian Klengel (1751-1824) attended primary school in
Dresden, went to Italy in 1790 and became professor at the academy of
arts Dresden in 1802, where he died in december 1824. He painted
idyllic and pastoral landscape compositions, usually in morning or

4to. 148 pp. Illustrated throughout with b/w photographs and
drawings, the opening full-page photograph (verso of title page)
printed in black red and yellow.
Original half cloth with photocollage front cover (by Le
Corbusier). In good condition, chips off the paper covering near
the spine, board edges mildly worn, binding a little shaky and an
ownership‟s sticker to the half-title.
First Edition of one of the scarcest and most sought-after books by Le
Corbusier. This profusely illustrated monograph is based on Le
Corbusier's involvement with the Pavillon des Temps Nouveaux in
1937. In publishing this plea for the application of the same technologies
that were utilized for the fabrication of munitions and armaments of war
to the realization of an enlightened architectural urbanism, Le Corbusier
was nonetheless struck by the increased relevance of the title applied to
his text. The title page bears the parenthetical note: "Ce titre date de
janvier 1937; il n'est nullement une allusion à l'actualité brûlante des
réarmements de 1938."– € 750,-

Unpaginated. 109 b/w lithographed caricature portraits, printed
to one side of the page only, with an index. Generals, Majors,
Captains and Lieutenants of the 2nd Regiment Chasseurs a Pied
are all comically displayed in this rare publication.
Original half cloth. In good condition, spine and board edges
worn, small split in the spine. Inside a bit shaky and with
thumbed (foredge) margin – € 85,-

original lithograph by Vladimír Suchánek. Printed in green,
yellow and black in an edition of 73 copies in Romanée type by
Ger Kleis. The text was prepared by Marijke Stapert-Eggen and
Frank Ligtvoet. The binding of this edition was in the hands of
David Simaleavich of the Phoenix Binderij. This copy, no. 14, is
one of 33 with the lithograph on Zerkall-Bütten Chamois. Bound
in half morocco with marbled boards, titling gilt direct to the
spine. Near fine, small spots of rubbing to the spine – € 475,-

Mediaeval type on Batchelor handmade paper. Splendid private
binding Jacques Weckesser: half morocco with marbled boards,
morocco corners. The transition of morocco to marble paper with
a single gilt rule, the spine decorated with an intricate gilt floral
design with helleborus flowers with inlaid darker morocco. The
original wrappers bound in.
This copy numbered 55. The fine typography of the Zilverdistel is
here combined with a very fine binding. A superb item – € 1400,-
