Bruxelles: E. Guyot, 1863. Folio. The atlas volume only (of three volumes total), with 37 double-page monochrome lithographed plates and one folding plate. These plates mainly depict crosssections and plans of fortifications. The first edition of this grand work. Contemporary half cloth with original letterpress boards. In good condition, spine ends damaged, boards scuffed, board edges worn. Minimal foxing, although the endpapers quite foxed, the folding plate with a large tear in the fold. Henri Alexis Brialmont (Venlo 1821 - Brussels 1903) was one of the leading fortifications engineers in the 19th century.– € 650,- [Belgicana] - TORFS, Lodewijk – Feestalbum van Antwerpen. This copy profusely annotated with manuscript notes in the margin. For every lot the sale price is given, as well as the last name of the buyer. Possibly this is a copy form the archives of the auction house. A sumptuous edition with luxurious wide margins. Roland Bonaparte was the grandson of Lucien Bonaparte - Emperor Bonaparte I‟s brother. In good condition, the cloth quite stained, corners worn. Inside near fine – a little shaky (as is often the case with thin oblong books). This photographic guide issued at the start of the twentieth century shows the romantic and grand capital of Berlin before two world wars raged through it. Cloth book, six cloth pages (one side printed) with colourful full-page plates by Vanasek, each plate with a single line of text. In a cloth cover. During the correction of the proofs of this book, the subject passed away, according to a moving text right after the title page. Original letterpress wrapper. In fine condition This copy with signed dedication on the flyleaf by André Bloc, one of the artists in the book. Another dedication on the flyleaf reads: “aan W. Vanermen / 8 mei 1956” (To Walter Vanermen [Belgian painter]). The second dedication is unsigned, and in another hand. – € 60,- KLENGEL, Johann Christian – Principes de Dessein pour les Paysages. Dresden: Henry Rittner, [n.d., ca. 1801]. Oblong folio, unpaginated. 12 large full-page etched plates with trees, leaves, and foliage, intended as a manual for the budding artist. The final 3 plates are full compositions, while the remaining 9 show smaller compositions or details. Original half leather with letterpress paper-covered boards. In good condition, but.nNot the freshest copy: the cover soiled, lower margin of the four first plates dampstained (also a bit in the plate), margins a bit foxed, spine rubbed. An extremely rare publication, not found in WorldCat, nor in DNB, nor in any other database. No recent auction records found. Johann Christian Klengel (1751-1824) attended primary school in Dresden, went to Italy in 1790 and became professor at the academy of arts Dresden in 1802, where he died in december 1824. Original half cloth with photocollage front cover (by Le Corbusier). In good condition, chips off the paper covering near the spine, board edges mildly worn, binding a little shaky and an ownership‟s sticker to the half-title. First Edition of one of the scarcest and most sought-after books by Le Corbusier. This profusely illustrated monograph is based on Le Corbusier's involvement with the Pavillon des Temps Nouveaux in 1937. In publishing this plea for the application of the same technologies that were utilized for the fabrication of munitions and armaments of war to the realization of an enlightened architectural urbanism, Le Corbusier was nonetheless struck by the increased relevance of the title applied to his text. The transition of morocco to marble paper with a single gilt rule, the spine decorated with an intricate gilt floral design with helleborus flowers with inlaid darker morocco. The original wrappers bound in. This copy numbered 55. The fine typography of the Zilverdistel is here combined with a very fine binding.
