XXVI NORDIC ­ BALTIC CONGRESS OF EN­<br />

TOMOLOGY<br />

Skalupes, Latvia, July 7 to 13, 2003<br />

By the decision of the General Assembly of XXV Nordic-Baltic Congress of Entomology<br />

in Melsomvik, Norway on July 2000, the congress now will be held in Latvia.<br />

All Nordic and Baltic scientists and students, also our colleagues from other countries<br />

doing research in entomology are hearty welcomed to the Congress. Besides insects, the<br />

con gress covers also all other terrestrial arthropods. Plenary session, sections, poster<br />

presen ta tion and excursions will be organised.<br />

The congress is organised by the Entomological Society of Latvia / Institute of Biology<br />

/ Faculty of Biology<br />

The congress will be held in Ligatne Rehabilitation Centre what is located at the banks<br />

of Gauja river inside the Gauja National Park (Cesis district, Central Latvia). National<br />

Park pro vides excellent possibilities for collecting and observing arthropods in different<br />

types of biotopes, like typical for Latvia and also rare forests, meadows, bogs, steams<br />

and other habitats.<br />

The scientific program will include plenary sessions, workshops and poster sessions.<br />

Themes of the scientific sessions will include:<br />

• applied entomology ( agriculture, forest, medical, veterinary);<br />

• taxonomy and faunistics (terrestrial and aquatic arthropods);<br />

• arthropods ecology.<br />

Congress abstracts will be published before, proceeding ‑ after the Congress.<br />

English will be the official language.<br />
