XXVI NORDIC ­ BALTIC CONGRESS OF EN­
TOMOLOGY
Skalupes, Latvia, July 7 to 13, 2003
By the decision of the General Assembly of XXV Nordic-Baltic Congress of Entomology
in Melsomvik, Norway on July 2000, the congress now will be held in Latvia.
All Nordic and Baltic scientists and students, also our colleagues from other countries
doing research in entomology are hearty welcomed to the Congress. Besides insects, the
con gress covers also all other terrestrial arthropods. Plenary session, sections, poster
presen ta tion and excursions will be organised.
The congress is organised by the Entomological Society of Latvia / Institute of Biology
/ Faculty of Biology
The congress will be held in Ligatne Rehabilitation Centre what is located at the banks
of Gauja river inside the Gauja National Park (Cesis district, Central Latvia). National
Park pro vides excellent possibilities for collecting and observing arthropods in different
types of biotopes, like typical for Latvia and also rare forests, meadows, bogs, steams
and other habitats.
The scientific program will include plenary sessions, workshops and poster sessions.
Themes of the scientific sessions will include:
• applied entomology ( agriculture, forest, medical, veterinary);
• taxonomy and faunistics (terrestrial and aquatic arthropods);
• arthropods ecology.
Congress abstracts will be published before, proceeding ‑ after the Congress.
English will be the official language.
