30The new excavations clearly confirmed that thebathhouse was not the first building in this partof the city. It was preceded by a possible rectangularbuilding structure with portico (?), whosefunction is still unclear, but which cannot atthe moment be connected with a thermal use.According to wider geophysics results pertainingto the original insula south of the forum, andto the dating of the very few finds connectedwith this first occupation phase, it might bepart of pre-Flavian town structures, possibly withresidential function (domus?). Some destroyedflooring in opus spicatum is associated with thisearlier phase.According to the preliminary analysis of associatedpottery, somewhere in later Flavian timesor the early second century AD a bathhouse wasconstructed here. Taking all data into considerationthis was probably a rectangular structureof min. 40x40m. The occupation of the complexlasted fully into the third century, but it is possiblethat in the course of the fourth century ADthe complex lost the use as thermal bath to beconverted in something else.C.C.De acordo com a análise preliminar da cerâmicarecolhida, algures durante o período flaviano tardioou nos inícios do século II, terá sido aquiconstruído um balneário.
