2020 school-age summer camp changes
June 15, 2020
We hope that you and your family are well
and have been staying safe as our community
continues to deal with the coronavirus
pandemic. With New York State allowing
summer day camps to open this year, we will
hold camp for seven weeks starting on July 6
(one week late). Campers registered for the
week prior will receive a credit on their account.
Our top priority will be to run camp in the safest
way possible. This year’s camp will have limited
capacity due to current
health regulations.
We’ve restructured
camp above and beyond
CDC guidelines and
have ordered personal
protective equipment
(PPE) to further our
health and safety
measures. Specifically,
please note this year’s
following new health and
safety protocols.
HIGHLIGHTS...
Smaller camp groups and no
co-mingling of groups.
Social distancing.
• Per state
regulations camp groups will have no more
than 10 campers.
• No co-mingling of camp groups throughout
the day to mitigate the risk of exposure.
• Social distancing will be observed.
• Camp will run daily from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
with drop-off beginning at 8:30 a.m. and
pick-up running until 4:30 p.m.
• There will be no early care, late care
or bus pick-ups this summer in order to
comply with CDC guidelines.
• Drop-off and pick-up will be provided by
the parents with a health check at the car
before accepting children to camp.
Hand washing/sanitizing stations
available.
No early care, late care or bus
transportation.
Many specialty camps and field
trips cancelled.
• Four portable hand washing/sanitizing
stations have been ordered for campers to
use outdoors.
• We will announce our pool opening date
once the county issues pool permits per
the governor’s order.
• Many specialty camps have been
cancelled per CDC guidelines limiting
contact sports and field trips.
• The JCC will be renting a large outdoor
tent to help social
distance groups outside
while providing shade.
Please know that this
is a fluid process and
additional changes may
occur before and during
camp. This camp guide
booklet contains an
updated list of School-
Age Specialty Camps
and updated forms.
Disregard the previous
camp guide that was
published in February 2020. Please contact
us with changes to your child’s registration
if they were registered for a camp that we
are unable to run.
Our number one priority is the safety of our
campers, staff and community members. We
are excited to be able to bring our campers
onsite. We know that the social interaction is
crucial for our campers’ wellbeing. This year’s
summer camp should be very good “practice”
for what to expect when returning to school this
fall. If you have any questions, please do not
hesitate to contact Pam at pranieri@jccsyr.org
or Amy at abisnett@jccsyr.org.

Welcome to
JCC CAMP
JOE & LYNNE ROMANO!
2020 SCHOOL-AGE CAMPS REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Every camper is special. We want to ensure
that every camper has a wonderful and
memorable experience at camp, and that
requires your help. Please carefully review the
information in this booklet, the information you
will receive after registration and information
that is sent home from camp. The registration
fee is non-refundable, and non-applicable to
camp tuition. The JCC is not responsible for
unintended, unforeseen absences. The JCC
reserves the right to cancel any camp for lack
of minimum enrollment; balances paid will be
transferred or refunded. You will be notified in
advance of any cancellations.
How to register
Use the registration form (starting on page 9)
and return it by mail (or in-person once we
open) with the required payment. Use one form
per child. Once your registration is received,
other forms will be sent to you, which must be
completed and returned at least two weeks
before camp starts.
Deposit and billing
With each child’s registration form you must
include the following:
• Full payment for camp weeks 1–3,
$50 per week deposit for weeks 4–7
(if registering before 7/15/2020).
• $25 non-applicable, non-refundable
registration fee.
Registration will not be considered without
both the full payment and the registration fee.
Note: Mail and billing will be sent to the child’s
address. The JCC accepts cash, checks and
credit cards. There will be no third party billing.
Sibling discount
A 2% discount will be credited for each child’s
camp tuition when more than one child from
a family attends at least one session in the
same camp (both in School-Age Camp or both
in ECDP Camp). This credit will be calculated
following the end of camp once all registration
changes are recorded. The credit can ONLY be
applied toward JCC Health, Physical Education
and Recreation (HPER) classes; ECDP; or
Children’s Programs (not including fundraisers
or membership). The credit must be used by
Dec. 31, 2020. If a sibling does not attend a
program for any reason, the credit will not be
given.
What tuition includes
Camp tuition includes materials, a camp T-shirt
and daily snacks. Unfortunately, because of this
year’s extraordinary circumstances, most field
trips and cookouts have been cancelled.
Scholarships/financial aid
The camp scholarship application deadline was
May 22, 2020.

discuss your situation. We will evaluate refund requests on a case-by-case basis.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be a $20 fee for any changes made after initial registration.
Camp Tuition
• Weeks 1–3 of camp are due at time of registration.
• Weeks 4–7 of camp are due no later than July 15.
Discounts
A 2% discount will be credited for each child’s camp tuition when more than one child from a family attends at least one session
in the same camp (both in School-Age Camp or both in ECDP Camp). This discount will be provided in the form of a voucher
after camp has ended and can only be applied to future JCC programming.
Absences/Switching Days
We are unable to adjust camp tuition for absences due to illness or holiday. We are also unable to “switch” days to provide
make-up days or so a child can participate in specific activities. Camp is a busy program with many different activities that are
planned well in advance.
JCC Membership
Being a JCC of Syracuse member is not a requirement to attend camp. However, a JCC membership affords you many benefits,
including significantly reduced camp tuition and a pool membership. Please refer to the Membership Section starting on p. 12
for prices and benefits offered with our Full-Facility (Fitness) and Non-Fitness membership options.
PLEASE NOTE: All memberships are a 12 month commitment.
Who’s Attending Camp?
Please list the names of all your children attending JCC Camp Romano (print neatly).

I, the undersigned primary member, for myself and all
persons listed above, hereby agree to the following:
I am applying for membership with the Jewish
Community Center (JCC) of Syracuse. I agree to
abide by its rules and bylaws. I understand that all
members 18 years and older may participate in the
JCC’s annual meeting.
I understand that membership dues are payable in full
at the time of joining or renewal unless a payment plan
has been approved in advance. A payment plan only
specifies the manner in which payments will be made
and does not reflect a month-to-month membership
commitment. If paying by monthly automatic payments
from a credit card, I authorize the JCC of Syracuse to
automatically charge my credit card account for each
consecutive month of the plan.
I understand that membership dues are automatically
renewed each year unless I give notice in writing.
Note that the JCC of Syracuse reserves the right to
cancel a membership for any reason at any time with
appropriate notice. I understand that membership
is not transferable and membership dues are
non-refundable.
Trial and discounted promotional memberships are not
eligible for child care or other program discounts.
I have read and agree with these membership terms
as acknowledged by my signature below.

The JCC pool is a gathering place for our
members and a great place to be when
the weather gets hot. Maximize your
membership by enjoying the pool in the
evenings after work, on the weekends
with family and friends, and complete your
morning workout by swimming some laps.
Incorporating the pool in your personal
training can add a new dimension to your
fitness program. Utilize this great aerobic
opportunity during our lap swimming hours
and make the most of the upcoming pool
season!
Whatever needs the pool may satisfy, we
know it will provide many hours of rewarding
recreation for you and your family. Some
of our aquatics programs that will run
