and the students’, to certify their competence and develop their professional skills.
We hope our brochure gives you a flavour of what we can do help you to gain a
competitive advantage through developing yourself or your people.”
Managing Director
Logistic Training and Supply Chain Management Courses
Logistics Learning Alliance deliver programmes that are designed to fulfil customer
requirements. Our online and face-to-face programmes are delivered by in-house
industry professionals whose personal approach ensures that you are able to
demonstrate your full potential. We are committed to achieving a successful outcome
for yourself and your company. Customer service and support for our students is at
the heart of our business.
What we do - Improve individual or company performance by delivering practical supply
chain and general management learning experiences. Our programmes run continuously
throughout the year. We train at all levels from shop floor to senior management.
How we do it - We have a wide variety of training methods at our disposal which can be
blended to meet the precise requirements of the client company. Typically we utilise a
case study called SCILWorld in which learners take on a functional management role in an
online simulated workplace. They are then set assignments which are continuously
assessed by an LLA tutor. We also offer face-to-face programmes, delivered in the UK and
internationally either at your business or at our training centre.
We provide recognised qualifications from the following organisations:
2
SCILworld – Our Simulated Workplace
SCILworld is a unique virtual commercial environment which enables the student to
make applications in a risk free simulation, evaluating the effect before
implementation in the real world. Our unique learning system is a powerful learning
tool which can be quickly tailored to meet any supply chain learning need or to
underpin the delivery of formal logistics qualifications.
SCILWorld creates the opportunity to apply learning – to experiment, to make
mistakes, to risk something radical (and evaluate its effect) before implementing your
learning in the real world. This “learning by doing” approach provides a competence
and confidence that no other training method can offer. It takes the students out of the
classroom and gives them a role in a realistic but risk free world leading to significant
improvements in individual and team performance.
These simulations are built around fictitious organisations, which replicate the real
world in their personalities, product information and in their statistical data. In the
commercial version, SCIL Plc has recently been formed from the merger of two
organisations, Air-flo and Bi-flo both with their own strengths and weaknesses.
Therefore in addition to a complex range of strategic, tactical and operational issues
there are, within the simulation, issues involving the merger of two organisations with
different operations, cultures and supply chains.
The humanitarian simulation follows a similar approach but utilises SCILaid, a fictitious
NGO and provides the backdrop for learners to confront a series of complex logistics
and supply chain issues in disaster relief locations.
Business
Solutions
Business Solutions for People Development
The chances are that any amount of time you spend thinking about your
organisation and its supply chain will produce the same conclusion: your
organisation needs people with the right skills and leadership qualities to bring you
to the next level.
People Development programmes are key to the success of your organisation and to
the survival and growth of the profession. The LLA process involves staff from different
departments being asked a series of questions to give us a full understanding of your
teams’ development needs. Based on the feedback from these consultations, bespoke
workshops will be created by LLA to meet those needs.
In the face of increasing customer demands, we recognise the importance of providing
every member of your workforce with the knowledge, skills and confidence to carry
out their role and our ‘People Development Plans’ are part of the on-going process
to support your team in their work.
There are many supply chain challenges facing companies including:

Inability of supply chain personnel to keep up with the rapid
environmental changes and technological changes in supply chain
systems
Managing inventory levels and the accumulation of inventory in the
pipeline
Lack of understanding of the true cost-to-serve with organisations putting
greater emphasis on price rather than total cost in the wake of the
growing pressure to increase revenue and reduce cost
Maintaining training budgets in a difficult economy
What our clients and learners think of LLA
“A large number of learning providers still employ
dated textbook and essay learning methods.
However Logistics Learning Alliance is anything but.
As I progressed through each module the need to
refer to this material was dramatically reduced. This
was why I chose Logistics Learning Alliance, because
I wanted to assemble the knowledge that would
allow me to confidently apply it in a real workplace. If
you can do it in an environment as realistic as
SCILplc, then you can do it anywhere.”
- Graham Harris, CILT Level 3 Certificate graduate
“Completing this course has given me the confidence
to seek work in this field. I feel like I have been well
equipped with a sound understanding of how this
operations work as well as an idea of how
practicalities could turn out (given the simulation
nature of the course). Further, I have a highly
recognisable qualification, which is considered an
industry standard and very highly regarded within
the field. I found the course highly enjoyable and
interesting. I always felt really well supported and
really appreciated the flexibility that was afforded
me in completing the course.”
- Lauren Barnard, CHL graduate
"LLA have proved themselves invaluable. We had some specific training needs and LLA’s
courses offered us the opportunity to select the aspects that would add the most value to our
trainees, and furthermore to the business. Highly recommended as a training partner!“
- Michael Olorenshaw, Superdrug
