This course covers several multi-disciplinary issues<br />

of modern research on astrophysical dynamics, of<br />

interest to physicists, mathematicians and engineers.<br />

The major topic is gas dynamics, viewed in context<br />

with stellar dynamics and plasma physics. You will<br />

become familiar with WAVELETS, which are becoming<br />

an increasingly powerful tool for processing<br />

signals and images, as well as for analyzing fractals<br />

and turbulence with important applications to<br />

dynamical modeling of disc galaxies.<br />

The aim of the course is to provide a comprehensive<br />

review of extragalactic astronomy and cosmology,<br />

with special emphasis on recent observational<br />

discoveries. You will gain an understanding of the<br />

galaxies that populate our universe and learn about<br />

the current cosmological model which include dark<br />

matter and dark energy. The dark energy is a component<br />

with negative pressure held responsible for<br />

the observed acceleration of the cosmic expansion.<br />

The course will give insight into how plasmas are<br />

created, where they appear and will try to develop a<br />

physical understanding of the characteristic properties<br />

of plasmas. An important part of the course is to<br />

illustrate plasma physics concepts and phenomena by<br />

considering applications ranging from fusion energy<br />

generation and microwave techniques to space physics<br />

and astrophysics.<br />
