The icon identifies certified official statistics. These statistics are produced and published
in accordance with Swedish legislation. The Official Statistics Act ensures public access
to statistical information. Public authorities are responsible for making readily available,
objective information that can be accessed free of charge. Planning and research requirements
are also to be met. Furthermore, statistics are to be produced and published in a manner that
protects the privacy of individuals.
The three most important producers of official
forestry statistics are the Swedish Forest Agency, the
National Forest Inventory (at the Swedish University
of Agricultural Sciences) and Statistics Sweden.
The Swedish Forest Agency is since 1 January
2006 the name of the former National Board of
Forestry and the ten Regional Forestry Boards.
It is a united governmental agency, consisting of
a main office, five regions and some 45 districts
covering the entire country.
The Swedish Forest Agency is, among other
tasks, responsible for producing official statistics
on employment and production in the forestry
sector.
