Summary:
The key assumption of the diploma thesis was to make a 3D model of Town Hall
Tower, which is located in the Main Market Square in Krakow, with a precision
adequate for the purpose of presentation of making use the most unprofessional
photographic equipment and semi-professional software, widely available on-line.
These criteria are necessary for this type of tools were his supporters, in contrast to
the costly and complicated photogrammetric elaborations.
The thesis is divided into two parts: theoretical and practical respectivelly. The
theoretical part provides description of how to present three dimensional data from
3D graphics and modeling by the method of data collection and visualization
applications to finished products. It also presents the historical information and a
description of the architecture of the facility and the characteristics of measuring
equipment.
The practical part presents the assumptions and the course of fieldwork,
describes toolkit which were used during the modeling of solids, ie, programs to create
3D models based on digital images of the object (Photosynth, Photofly, Google
SketchUp, AutoCAD), along with a discussion of the various stages of its creation. As a
final result of work carried out three-dimensional models achieved 4 test object,
textured and two animations created in AutoCAD and Google SketchUp. In order to
control the possibility of different commercial solutions in addition to professional
software such as AutoCAD, also examined outside the scope of work, semiprofessional
ImageModeler.
Has been shown that public utility provide enough, and sometimes even better
results than specialized commercial software. All of presented visualizations were
created using the photographic techniques and can be use to educational and
presentational purposes, such as a promotion and an advertisement. This forms of
visualizatiosn may also be a kind of architectural documentation.
