Intrinsically safe tablet now certified for mining
Aegex Technologies LLC has
added a mining certificate to
its portfolio of global certifications
for safe use in the world’s most
hazardous industrial operations.
The Aegex10 Intrinsically
Safe Tablet is the only Windows
10 tablet that is globally certified
for the world’s most explosive
industrial environments, where
high concentrations of flammable
gases, vapours, dusts or fibres are
likely to occur in normal operation,
such as in oil and gas, chemical
manufacturing, and other
industries.
Specifically, the tablet is
approved for ATEX and IECEx Class
1 Zone 1, UL913 Class I, II and III
Division 1 a-g and CSA 22.2 part
157 areas of hazardous locations.
The Aegex10 is intrinsically safe,
meaning it is designed to be
incapable of generating energy
sufficient to ignite a spark.
The Aegex10 has achieved
a new certificate for safety in
mining, which was granted by a
certification body according to
IECEx 60079 requirements and
the ATEX directive. ATEX is the
European Regulatory Framework
for Manufacture, Installation and
Use of Equipment in Explosive
Atmospheres.
This mining certification
approves the Aegex10 for use
in mining operations where
methane and coal dust may be
present, specifically for I M2 Ex
ib I Mb. Aegex10 tablets are now
certified for mining operations
throughout Europe, as well as
international locations governed
by IECEx, the International
Electrotechnical Commission
System for Certification to
Standards Relating to Equipment
for Use in Explosive Atmospheres.
Mining is an important
industry in many parts of the world.
This additional certification for the
Aegex10 Intrinsically Safe Tablet
gives mining operators in Europe,
Africa, Asia and elsewhere the
ability to not only maintain realtime
communications with their
crews but to also access the data
they need to make their operations
safer and more efficient.

The new and, at the same time,
smallest of the five actuator
sizes of the iComLine® is setting
standards in the area of miniature
valve designs. This valve size offers
a flow capability of 2.0 litres per
minute, whilst the height of the
pneumatic actuator is scarcely
larger than the diameter of a 2 euro
coin. The small area of 20 x 20 mm
is setting new standards in the area
of ultra pure pneumatic valves.
Developed primarily for
customers from the chemical and
semiconductor industries, the
iComLine® product line can now
cover a wide range of uses. With
a focus on process equipment, in
addition to providing a compact
design and high resistance to
media, the iComLine® series also
makes it possible to use valves as
a multi-functional unit in the form
of a multi-port valve block. Various
actuator and connection options,
as well as a corresponding range of
accessories, are also available.
These options, coupled with
the performance capability of the
valves, open up numerous new
areas of use. The new actuator size
enables the valves to be used for
applications in semiconductor
production, laboratory and
process analytics, as well as in the
manufacturing of energy storage
systems. The visual design and
necessary operating parameters
are identical to all other valves in

Diaphragm valves for oxygen applications
Diaphragm valves are used in
the most varied of industrial
sectors for a variety of applications.
For the pharmaceutical sector
and biotechnology industry as well
as the food and beverage industry,
a local valve distributor can now
offer its customers an extended
range of valves and diaphragm
materials for oxygen applications.
For applications in which gaseous
oxygen is used, corresponding
approval is required.
In Germany, this is assigned by
the Federal Institute for Materials
Research and Testing.
Diaphragm valve GEMÜ 601 for
small nominal sizes, valve GEMÜ
650 for small to larger nominal
sizes, and filling valve GEMÜ 660
are just a small selection of the
stainless steel valves available
under the above-mentioned
approval.
For all valve types, the
customer can fall back on the
diaphragm materials EPDM or
PTFE.
The specified valve and
diaphragm designs can cover
a wide variety of applications,
including with regard to the
required operators (manual or
pneumatic).
