Unit 5 Topic 1 Cognitive Learning Strategies -- Schunk (2012, p. 290) states that metacognition is involved when
learners set goals, evaluate goal progress, and make necessary corrections. Meg Howard teaches seventh grade social
studies. She is concerned about the lack of progress several of her students are making. She wants Jeff Jones, the
educational psychologist, to help her develop some strategies to assist these students.Please listen to the conversation.
After you have had an opportunity to hear Meg and Jeff discuss the problem, give them your assistance. Using your
textbook and the readings from the Kaplan Library, discuss a strategy or two that would assist the class in general, or
Carl specifically. Respond to the suggestions of at least two of your classmates. When responding to your classmates,
keep the following questions in mind to help develop the conversation. ? Do you think your classmates' strategies will
work? ?What suggestions would you provide to your classmates to improve the strategies? ? How do you think Meg's
