Unit 3 Topic Case Study -- Read the following scenario and respond:
Your supervisor has asked you to mentor a new person who has joined your team. The new person is computer literate
and has done some work in this area. However, your institution uses a wide range of authoring tools and hardware and
uses several approaches to developing content. This is the first person to join your group in 2 years. In your position you
use the following:
A Learning Management System (You load all your own content)
Virtual Classroom Technology (Adobe)
You design and create your own Learning Objects (You have access to a vast range of Learning Object Software,
graphical tools and video and audio equipment)
Access to a state of the art Reusable Learning Object Repository
The new person will be creating content within one month of hire for training and elearning purposes.
1. What are your plans as mentor to bring them on board?
2. Is the time frame realistic and where do you think you might need help?
3. How will you make sure they are aware of the different categories of authoring tools used and how Reusable
Learning Objects (RLOs) are used to support elearning?
As you read your classmates responses, what ideas do they present that you did not think of, but might like to try?
