Your supervisor has asked you to mentor a new person who has joined your team. The new person is computer literate<br />
and has done some work in this area. However, your institution uses a wide range of authoring tools and hardware and<br />
uses several approaches to developing content. This is the first person to join your group in 2 years. In your position you<br />
use the following:<br />
A Learning Management System (You load all your own content)<br />
Virtual Classroom Technology (Adobe)<br />
You design and create your own Learning Objects (You have access to a vast range of Learning Object Software,<br />
graphical tools and video and audio equipment)<br />
Access to a state of the art Reusable Learning Object Repository<br />
The new person will be creating content within one month of hire for training and elearning purposes.<br />
1. What are your plans as mentor to bring them on board?<br />
2. Is the time frame realistic and where do you think you might need help?<br />
3. How will you make sure they are aware of the different categories of authoring tools used and how Reusable<br />
Learning Objects (RLOs) are used to support elearning?<br />
